As i sit here waiting to check in to my fly i just wanted to say thankyou to everyone who has helped me during this process (it seems like its taken years!).

You guys have gotten me through this process with advice and kind words. I plan to help as many people as i can through their visa journey and continue to use the site for AOS.

Guys, its been emotional.

Safe travels!

Parting advice:

When you fill out the (white) I-94 card on the plane, write very neatly. That way some other version of your name doesn't go into the entry database and mess up getting your Social Security card in a few weeks.

Do not leave JFK immigration without your I-94 card. Sometimes they don't staple them in the passport.

Before you rush out the door check it for accuracy. Make sure your 90 days date is correct. Should be a date around Christmas. Make sure they didn't write a diffent visa on there. I've known people who got B2 written on it or got 30 days admission. Check the back of it too. Just check everything so you don't have to get on VJ at AOS time a post "what do I do if my I-94 is wrong?"

Ask the immigration guy if your 4 pages of the medical exam report are in the white envelope when he opens it. It needs to be there for AOS, and sometimes USCIS loses the medical. At least you will know it was there when you turned it over. Maybe he will be nice and tell you.

so when you are on the plane you have to fill out a form?

If you traveled to the US before ESTA became paperless, as non-American you would have filled out 2 forms on the plane--landing cards they were sometimes called. You would have done a green I-94W for visa waiver. They kept part and tore off the bottom for you. Your turned your portion in when you left the US. ESTA now is paperless so most airlines quit doing the I-94W green forms. But if traveling on a visa (you will be on K1) you fill out the I-94 white card that is very similar to the green visa waiver one. You will be given back the lower portion at POE after they write on it/stamp it (whatever they do). It's your key to getting your Social Security card two weeks after entry. And it is photocopied for submission with AOS. It shows legal entry "with inspection" as they call it. Just means you went through immigration procedures, not fondled or something.

The other form is a customs declaration form which everybody still fills out.

I sent my fiancee the I94 information, as if there is not enough to check on as it is! VJ makes all this seem so easy, I cannot imagine doing this without everyone here to lean on.
