Hello VJ's

I'm Amadeo from the Philippines, my fiancee filed for a petition for me. Today (9/20/11) she received the approval letter. Do you guys know around when will I have my Medical Check-up and interview with the US embassy?

Also what do these acronyms stand for:

a. NOA-1

b. NOA-2

Thanks in advance.

NOA1 - Notice of Action1 means they notify you that they received your petition

NOA2- Notice of Action2 means they approve your petition

your medical and interview depends on your NOA2 mostly after 6 months but some people only took 3-4 months

goodluck! :D

hello amadeo,

the NOA1 IS STAND FOR notice of action number one =this NOA1 will state that they got(homeland security) petition for you its like a reciept letter stating your case number on it where you can track online about your case if they touch it or not.keep it for further process

the NOA2 IS the approval notice.this notice stating that your petition is approve by the homeland security office and you must be very happy when you have it.,look for the experiences here for the timeline b/w NOA1 AND NOA2

SOME PEOPLE RECIEVE THIER NOA1 AFTER 2 WEEKS OF SENDING THE PETITION

THEN NOA2 AFTER 5 TO 6 MOS.

THEN WHEN YOUR PETITION IS APPROVE YU WIL BE RECIEVING A LETTER FROM NVC(STAND FOR NATIONAL VISA CENTER)AND THEN A LETTER FROM USEMBASSY INCLUDING THE INSTRUCTION AND WHAT TO DO NEXT.

WHEN YOU RECEIVE THIS letter from nvc YOU CAN go to saint lukes for your medical, after your medical you can call for your appointment for your interview at the EMBASSY AT CONSULAR OFFICE.

look for the intruction and progress here in VJ K-1 FIANCE TIMELINES AND INSTRUCTION

"NOA" stands for Notice of Action. Every time you get a notice from the USCIS it is issued on Form I-797, Notice of Action. The terms NOA1 & NOA2 really should not be used as they have no official meaning.

After submitting your petition the first notice you get will be a Receipt Notice. The second notice will hopefully be the Approval Notice but could be an RFE (Request for Evidence). Both an RFE and an Approval Notice are an "NOA2" but almost everyone on VisaJournay refers to the approval notice only as an NOA2 for some reason.

So your finace received the Approval Notice today. She should call the National Visa Center to confirm exactly when the petition has been sent on to Manila. Then you can schedule your interview and have the medical exam.

NOA1 is the receipt notice from USCIS, NOA2 is the approval notice. first the petition is forwarded to NVC, where it will be assigned an MNL case number. then NVC wiil forward the petition to the Embassy in Manila. this process can take from 2 to 6 weeks.

have you seen yet the interview preparation instructions on the Embassy website? if not, here a link to the webpage...

as far as scheduling the interview, I'm sure others will chime in who are more up to date on the process than me...

Congratz on the approval of the petition. :star:

Next, the approved petition will go to the National Visa Center (NVC) where they will assign it an MNL case number, and send it to the U.S. Embassy Manila (USEM). In a few weeks, when the USEM has received the petition and has entered it into their system, you will want to complete your medical, pay your visa fee at BPI, and schedule an interview.

In the meantime, your fiancée will want to call the NVC in order to get the MNL case number. You will need the MNL case number and a copy of the NOA2 in order to be admitted into St. Lukes for your medical.

Just want to point out that "NOA2" does NOT mean approval notice - it just means second notice. In our case the second notice was an RFE and our approval notice was the third notice we recieved.

Also, after your petition arrives at the USEM and they enter it into their system, the USEM will eventually send you a letter telling you that you are eligible to schedule an interview. You don't want to waste a lot of time waiting for a letter that may never arrive. Instead, after waiting an appropriate amount of time, you should contact the Embassy to see if your petition has arrived and has been entered into their system. Once it has been entered into their system, you are good to go.

If you want to read the eligibility letter from the USEM...you can read it here.

Guys good news... Already have the Manila Case Number, it was sent on Sept. 27... So what next for me? What should I and my fiancee prepare (for)?

after NOA2

I think the majority of this information is still correct. I think the website for scheduling the interview has changed.

Thanks for the link... it was very helpful...

I read in of the links that he paid before they received the letter from the Embassy for the interview. Can I do that? I know that the Embassy already has our case number, since I tracked it via DHL... I'm planning to pay BPI for the Visa fee on Monday, what do I need to bring with me going there?

Yes, you can pay the visa fee and schedule the interview before the Embassy sends you an email or a letter.

When you go to BPI, take the money, passport, a copy of the passport's bio page, and your MNL case number.
