Dear all;

I'm travelling to Canada in a few months and staying there for a week, and having a question. My lastname on the greencard and on the foreign passport is different, married name on the GC and maiden name on the passport. Would that be a problem to exit and enter U.S. and Canada? I check on the Canadian Consulate Website, a U.S. greencard holder can enter Canada without applying for a visa. I just want to make sure. And, when buying a plane ticket, what name should I put as the passenger??? Following to passport or Greencard?

THank you so much!!!

You might have a problem when they check your ID at the airport check-in. You should get your name on your passport changed (new passport).

You might also consider getting a copy of the record of getting your name legally changed. The airline *might* accept that. But you should call them to be certain.

Book the tickets to match your passport and then carry your Marriage certificate in case you have to prove the name on your greencard when you come back in.

Thank you!!! And, will the Canadian port of entry accept it though (the different lastname)? I guess I have to carry my marriage cert. around as you suggest:)

Assuming the flight is international, the tickets must match your passport.

My wife hasn't had any issues with her GC not matching her passport (entering the US or CA) but her passport is Canadian.

Thank you:)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure as long as you have your marriage certificate with you, you'll be fine :)
