I check VJ obsessively but need to maybe focus on other things. We pretty much have everything we need gathered at this point. We are just gathering things as we go now such as paystubs, etc. What does everyone else do to keep busy?

Well, I work full time and I am also finishing up my masters program, which includes a thesis paper, so I'm pretty busy! But, I'm still finding some down time. I read, go to the gym and recently I've started baking again. This morning I made cupcakes for my co-teachers. It kept me busy and the calories are out of the house as I will be bringing them to work with me tomorrow!

I will often times buy cards to send to him - it only takes a 98 cent stamp to send and lately they've been getting there within 5-6 business days. But, shopping for just the right card and then writing something for him that I know will make him smile helps to pass the time a bit too...

Of course, we Skype about every 2 days for about 1-2 hours. I wish it was more, but, our schedules don't alway mix that well with the time difference! We email all day long though. We've also agreed to put off wedding talk until there is an interview date. We are focusing on the immediate next step only - and that seems to have helped a lot.

I like the idea of watching youtube movies/shows together, I will have to check that out!!

Love these ideas! I also found just worrying about the immediate next step helps. I have had to not spend too much time researching. I am trying to just not think about things. Wish I had started my masters. Would be an excellent distraction! Perhaps after AOS.

When I get up I chat with her online over breakfast. Then I call her on my drive to work. We text and email often and probably have an hour together online daily. We're hooked on a Zombie game on facebook so we send each other needed items too. ;-)

I'd love to marry in a kilt and her in a kilted skirt, but she insisted I wear my Army uniform. We will marry on the anniversary of my 31st year in the Army!

were having a celtic handfasting, were not big fans of traditional ceremonies and arent particularly religious. we didnt feel making promises under the eyes of god was for us. the handfasting is going to be awesome, so different than a "normal" wedding.

Jess and I met through Xbox so we have that to spend time together with and MSN is the main way we keep in touch together as well as emails when one of us isn't able to get on chat.

And also, youtube now has a 'watch together' option, we often watch TV shows together, and even online movies (make sure they're from the same place as we've had a few issues with videos being cut differently or even just running faster overall!)

This might be a silly question but have you found a lot of trouble with videos being available in only one region but not the other? From personal experience when Jess spams me a link sometimes the video isn't available in the UK.

Sometimes we shop online together for house things, most of the time we don't get anything, but when we do it's like another little bit of our life together is beginning.

We've done this as well for things like the headboard and what flooring is going in the downstairs den.

The internet makes things a lot more bearable!

Amen to that!

Some DVD players can be reprogrammed to be region-free. Particularly Philips. Google "region free DVD" and you should get there pretty quick.

We have two DVD players, one is exclusively for our UK DVDs, which play just fine. There is a slight motion artifact due to the frame rate change, but it's barely noticeable.

Amazon UK ships promptly and doesn't rip you off by charging VAT.

Thanks for the tips but I was looking more for info on the youtube options to watch together. Over Christmas last year Jess and I were watching DVDs and in MSN at the same time and mine always seemed to run ahead a little. Also if (God willing) everything goes smoothly and we get the visa I'd rather not spend money on something I'll be leaving behind as I won't be earning for a little while and every little might help.

Well not so much the region, we *ahem* acquire our movies from certain sources online that don't care for regions...! We did find that renting the same movie from our local shops was pointless - it was like watching two different films!

If you need any movie hints or tips, let me know :)
