Holy smoke, I know I just filed our K1 pkg, however I was checking out the next steps in the process and the 2nd NOA, acknowledging K1 petition approved, the processing time for this step is 5 months alone? It seemed to not matter whichever service center, except Nebraska, (not sure what their times meant)...., but I've talked to people who were bringing their Filipina finace here and I know one guy said the whole process was 4 months...there were some 5 month folks...seemed 6 was sorta common..?

I mean it is what it is, but didn't think just that one step was 5 months. Too bad living near DC doesn't help or I'd just drive the 50 mins downtown and take care of it, if I could, lol.

Amen,

Good luck on your journey. I live 7 mins from the DC and unfortunately it doesn't help. Your case will go to VSC, Nebraska doesn't process K-1 at this time.

You most likely looking at 5 month prior to NOA2 and at least another 2 month, prior to Visa, so get ready for a long wait

When you get your NOA1, fill in that date in your 'timeline' and it will produce an estimated date on which you MAY be approved.

Good luck.

The problem is, there is no set timeline. I've seen cases here that get processed in under three months, some take up to two years, each case is different. Seems to be a mixture of luck and timing on when you file as well. Praying also helps if all else fails....

My fiancee is in Philippines as well. You are probably looking at 6.5 months in the best case and 8+ worse. we have a NOA 1 of June 14, and I think we will be lucky if she is here by Early December

Good luck.. The waiting is hard but there is no way around it.

Try not to take all those dates too seriously. I submitted our K1 package on May 23rd and it has been approved and she is scheduled for her interview next week. Only 105 days after the K1 submission. I did use a service called RapidVisa to help with all the paperwork and it was really very well worth their small fee. Just having them check over everything and fill in all of the right papers has been a fantastic help. I also made sure to include anything that I thought would be helpful such as since I'm a dual citizen with Canada and the USA due to being born when my father was stationed on military orders, in Canada during the "Bay of Pigs" mess, even though it wasn't required I sent along a copy of my DS-290 so that there wouldn't be any questions. Send in crisp and clear copies of things, like I used photo paper for copies of many things. The waiting certainly can drive you nuts, but once things start getting approved, the world speeds up a lot! :)

Take this time to really get to know your finance on a personal level without all the physical stuff getting in the way, it will really pay off down the road because you will know each other a lot better than most couples who go out and get married without really knowing the person they are marrying. Ask the questions that count and talk about everything. Think about the adjustments that both of you will be making in your lives, and talk about all of that stuff. It takes time, and the distance makes things difficult, but use it the best you can to make your marriage happy and successful!

Good luck and I hope you and your fiance recieve the blessings of God!

@jetdoc: Hi, Ron. An affirmation and a suggestion:

Affirmation: I am just pretty much affirming/confirming what others have told you. Essentially, the time frame for petition approval (“NOA2” in VJ-speak) varies for all. Yes, even if all goes well, you are likely looking at a time frame on the order of multiple months. However, each case is different and there is no way to predict exactly when NOA2 will be received. True, when you update/edit your timeline you will see an estimate for when your NOA2 will occur (“I-129f adjudication’”; I’m guessing you’ll be given an estimate for about January 2012 based on current info) but you will see that this estimate will continually change in your timeline over time as situations change for all, as—and if--VJ members update their own timelines, and so on. [With those caveats in mind, FYI: currently, most approved petitions to be forwarded to Manila embassy seem to be trending about 4 to 5 months or so from initial submission to NOA2 receipt. However, yes there are cases which have gone into order of years.] You will certainly find various tools and features on VisaJourney that report current processing times and/or give estimates for the various steps along the way. However,…

Suggestion: However, Ron, do avoid getting “hung up” or focusing too heavily on those VJ estimates and tools—although their utility as guidelines/general information may be helpful. The only sure way to know your NOA2 date is when you have actual petition approval in hand. Assuming all goes well, and assuming your petition does get approved some number of months from now, I think you will find the following to be true: the waiting will seem like eons and then, after petition approval, it will be rush-rush-rush as you and your fiancée work as a team to prepare for and schedule the interview and attend to all other related requirements. (This is from personal & current experience!!) So, here is a suggestion: relax for a few days or even a week or two and then (because I know you are a very detail-oriented individual) begin using your waiting time to continue researching well what the next specific steps will be upon/after receiving petition approval. You and your fiancée can use the wait time to discuss these things, do a little pre-preparation (e.g., making sure your fiancée will have all her required documents), and perhaps practice filling out some of the forms yet to come and so forth.

Most importantly, congratulations on having completed what is a huge step [the biggest one?] in all this K-1 visa process: having submitted the I-129f!! As cliche as the saying may seem it still seems appropriate to mention: "A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." I would venture to say you are a good ways down the road now! Be seeing you along the way, my friend...

Well just tracked my fedex and it was delivered and signed for this morning, 9:10 a.m...who hoo...haha.

Eve/Jim, good points, and I will take up your suggestions, I like it. And thanks for your kind words.

RK/Inday, I understand that the time frame can be long or not as long, and it seems there is not rhyme or reason....so I will pray ours is the 'not as long'. Myself and my fiance' will use this time to prepare ourselves for the next step, we will be ready I think.

I do need to use this time now to realx a bit, as much as I can. These past two years have been EXTREMELY difficult, with the divorce, the QDRO divorce settlement nightmare, the mess of splitting everything , including house, moving into our new house, (fiance and I), and all the paperwork with the I-129F....some of this stuff is ongoing but most of it is on the downward slope now, except for my relationship with my fiance', lol.

Thanks for your reassurance, RK, it does feel good to be able to say USCIS has our 129F pkg now, and we will be entered into the system soon.

Ron--You are welcome. Yes, prayer is a good way to fill the waiting time, too! :) Yup, with all that (past two years) sounds like some R&R is indeed in order! I know you will make good use of the time and, in doing so, how long ever it takes to receive the NOA2, hope it will help the time seem to pass more quickly for you and your fiancee. Take care! --RK
