Tonganoxie, Kan. —

A teenage boy suffered only minor injuries after he became trapped under an overturned riding lawn mower Saturday near Tonganoxie, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday west of Tonganoxie on Sandusky Road.

A 14-year-old rural Tonganoxie boy was mowing grass on a John Deere zero turn mower when it slid into a ditch. The boy complained of pain in his back and left leg as he was trapped under the machine, according to the report.

Firefighters from Tonganoxie Township used a manual wench to free the boy. He was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital by Leavenworth County EMS, according to the report.
