Hi all, I need some help. I mailed form I-130 on August 11th and got my NOA1 on the 20th. I know I have a long time to go before I receive NOA2 but in the meantime I just want to know what is stated in NOA2? Do they ask for anything to be mailed to USCIS? Does it state the time and date of the interview? Does it ask for Affidavit of Support? What is it all about? I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

The NOA2 basicaly states the USCIS acknowledges you have a relationship with your spouce & they then forward all your papers to the NVC to be processed further. You then need to wait to be contacted by the NVC. They do the Affidivit of Support & Visa Applications, other forms, biometrics etc. etc. & more fees. Hope that helps

OP: The NOA2 will state that the petition has been approved and sent to the NVC.

You then need to wait to be contacted by the NVC.

No, you will not have to wait for the NVC to contact you, if you do, then you will be waiting a long time and could loose time by doing so. One week after you receive your NOA2, start calling the NVC to see if they have received the file from USCIS. Once they do receive the file, it will take 10-20 business days for it to be entered into their system.

May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)
October 6, 2011: Case complete at NVC
November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Thank you so much for the help guys. Should my husband start getting his medical exam done and get the other records ready or should we wait until we receive NOA2?

What country is your husband from? :time:

The medical can't be done until there is a case number from the NVC. It's country specific as to how soon the medical can be done once the NVC assigns a case number. In some countries, an interview must be scheduled, in others, it can be done once the case number is assigned. Fill in your timeline and include the country your husband is from and you can get the country specific answers you need.
