I don't get the dom-submissive aspect. Why is it always one or the other? How about it being equal between both partners, and neither being overly dom or sub all the time. Sure, at times one will defer to the other, and vice versa, but overall? Not in my marriage.

We overlay our changing culture every 50 years or so but the basics stubbornly remain.

Homosexuals could be arrested and jailed 6 months before I joined the police force - now they are celebrated - especially in the UK - a fast changing culture

So the cultures change, but if you ever see a group of horses in a field or dog or cats or rabbits - always one is dominant even when they appear to be 'equal'

The one who thinks they are all equal is usually the boss

There are few western marriages I have observed where the woman is not the boss. She says they are equal but if I take him aside for 3 hours and give him 4 beers (If she will allow it), and then ask him when he is on his own, a different picture emerges.

Some men fight a rearguard action and object to being 'shussed' if they utter a word when nany grace is on. It's a formula for domestic strife and nature knows that, and has ordered it so there is only one leader. Most men I know spend their lives apologising for things they didnt do while I fight on alone - bloodied but unbowed.

The best that can be wished for is that the leader is benign - but the notion that leadership is joint - is un-natural in ALL mammals

Anyone who has talked to pairs of lesbians or pairs of homosexuals (I have), knows there is a dom and a submissive and that is why they are 'normal' mammals

The culture of the moment is unnatural and is a branch of evolution which is bound to die out.

People might call this old fashioned in terms of today's culture but it is ahead of it's time in terms of tomorrow's culture

The dog (mammal) trainer Caesar says that a dog who is allowed to get out front is confused and unhappy and needs to know it's rank in the pack in order to be happy. Only a small number of the pack is cut out to be leader and the other's don't do well in that role.

Another mammal with higher testosterone is equipped by nature to slip into the role of leader more easily

When a man is confronted and challenged eye to eye, he will eventually walk/run away from the domestic setting or stay and become not worth having. Some will stay and continue to fight for their dignity but domestic peace will not follow while the trousers are being fought over.

Smart women down the eons have played the submissive game because men will then go along with the women's agenda and shower them with goodies and think they are a rare treasure

The aggressive female amazons and dominants who stalk much of today's society deserve what they get which is either NO man or a submissive man not worth having or a setting for a fight

Hillary ? Actually, it's appropriate if you are Secretary of State, but the question is, do you take them off literally and mentally when you get home, or do you not - and drive your husband into the arms of the likes of Monica ?

women of a certain age are very into the pantsuits but I don't see too many women under 50 wearing them any more.
