Okay...interview was last week on the 15th. He of course was placed in AP because he is from Iran. When they give out the blue slip, I always thought it meant we were approved just awaiting checks. When I called DOS, she said that he was Denied or Temp Denied. That hurt like a ton of bricks! Here I was thinking we were at least "conditionally" approved...but now I know we are denied :crying:

No, they are not sending it back. When we received the blue slip of death, the CO said everything looked good and the only thing that was marked on the slip was the 221g reason code. Not that we needed to send anything in. Under the reason code was also the embassy website to check the status of the case

Did you call DOS again and get a different person to make SURE that what that person just told you was correct?

Sometimes there are very mean/rude people at DOS who answer the phone and just say whatever about the case. Call a few more times and double check with other people that what she said is correct. I have a feeling its still just in AP and is not denied/temp denied.

I'm calling again right now....But you know how they just keep saying that they can not say anything further than what is on the screen. The first lady was actually nice...that is why it took me by surprise. I feel sick to my stomach right now :(

Royajoon78,

Please don't be disappointed and don't give up hope. The way I understand it, the 221g is given for many reasons and it is usually related to the additional checks and information required in connection with AP. It does not mean you have been denied.

I think what the lady had told you was that it was denied this time around and a visa wasn't issued because of required AP. If you do some research you will see that many other applicants / petitioners have received the same 221g blue form and it did not mean they were denied.

It all depends on how you look at it. If they didn't give the visa after your interview then you were temporarily (or conditionally) denied because he required to go through the AP. It doesn't mean much more than that. Don't let the robotic answers from the operators make you sad. I just wish they would do the AP before having the interview. It would be so much easier (may be?) on people not having to wait again ( sometimes indefinitely and without a known time frame).

Don't give up hope and "naa omid nashid". (F)

I wish everyone a short journey through their AP period.

My dear! My goodness! of course they are going to say you are "temporary denied". AP is like a "you didn't get it now but wait a bit" kinda thing. They have to do a bazillion checks more and then its will be okay. Its VERY rare for them to deny someone AFTER the interview. They would have denied him right then and there. If they felt suspicious in ANY way, they would have brought up the issues right then.

I would not worry so much. You both are fine. :) Stay positive!

Thanks Rebekah!!

I know I need to relax, but as you remember...it is so hard during this whole AP thing...you start to wonder and think...maybe they are looking through his paperwork again and could find something to deny...or maybe his namechecks will be the one that takes 6+ months or a year! You know, I thought waiting for the NOA1 and NOA2 was hard...but I really believe THIS phase is the hardest!!!
