For proof of ongoing relationship for a K-1 visa, what would be a safe minimum of skype chat and call logs? the only way I know how to print that stuff out is by selecting months worth of chats and call logs and copy/pasting them, but 3 months worth is over 500 pages!! it's how we do 90% of our communicating, neither one of us do snail mail. other proofs of ongoing relationship are yahoo emails and usage details from my cell phone bill. thats pretty much all we got. I read that western union recpt's are bad because it makes me look like I am "buying" my fiance? that's what I read in some posts here anyways. Any advice is much appreciated :-)

We used to do screen shots in Skype but the Skype version just upgraded and the snapshot is not in there anymore. We will get back to that as soon as I figure out a way around it. I read where they don't even look at chat logs sometimes but maybe they do. I'd be looking at something else as proof just to be safe. I use Phonecardasia.com for an occassional phone conversation and that lets me print my history. The rates seem competitive and their service seems to be pretty good if you can operate the web site which I think is good. Also, I think selecting weekly emails might be another alternative for you.

It is expensive to send cards but I think that is worth it every now and then too.

Before we went to our interview I weighted all of our paperwork, it was 11.5 pounds. Outrageous I know. That was all forms, documents and nearly 700 pages of chat and phone logs. I go with the better safe than attitude. I wanted to have a piece of paper for any question they might ask. I would rather them look at us like we are crazy over prepared people rather then people that just do the bare minumum. You get one shot.

@Jimbo,

re: chatlogs. "I+H" has good point about getting one shot. How about this suggestion: at interview if chat logs are asked for or if presented, offer sample pages over some period of time? {And have on hand the rest in case more is needed?) Just an idea.

re: WU receipts. There are two schools of thought on this among VJ members and among all embassies. However, I have gone over quite a few VJ threads about this which specifically addressed the Manila embassy. I encourage you to examine those threads for yourself to help make your own decision. However, it seems to me that to not have WU or similar receipts is viewed as decidely abnormal in regards to the Manila embassy. I even read one post here on VJ where the Filipino pre-screener absolutely could not believe the applicant didn't have money receipts from her fiancee and gave her an incredibly bad and argumentive time about it. Jimbo, I think the troublesome perception mostly occurs if money is sent from e.g. the Philippines back to the states and could be regarded as "purchasing" immigration. USC citizen sending money to fiance(e) in Philippines seems normal. If monetary support of your fiancee is an additional part of a genuine and caring relationship then why not present it? [That's the other school of thought]. Then you can also take a middle ground strategic position--have selected receipts on hand to offer at interview if asked for. If asked for, then they are available. If they are not asked for at time of interview, then no worries and at least you had them if they were needed.

I will be interested to here what you decide. Good luck!!

Jimbo, I think your post made me realize that most everybody has sent money to loved ones in the Philippines. Haven't they? Now I see that it is likely not a red flag in most cases. It can't be if done properly and within reason.

If I didn't work for a living, none of this would be an issue because I would be there with her.
