hello ! just curious, what about your NBI clearance? I do have an NBI clearance (for Travel purpose) issued last May 2011 yet, would this still be accepted ? planning to get interview date around October 2011. Please advice... I'm just worried coz I knew that NBI clearance is quite not easy to get renewal now. Thanks and all the best ! (F)

yeah get a new one just before your interview...they are easy to get and no reason to be held up because they want an updated one.

To the OP, there is no telling how long it will take, but it shouldnt be long if that was the only thing they wanted. I would say no more than 10 days...probably closer to 4 or 5....but there is no real telling for sure. Each case is different.

Almost the EXACT same situation...

My fiance showed up to her interview with an NBI for the name she lived with for her entire life. Her middle name was incorrect on her birth certificate, and she got her corrected one less than 4 weeks before her interview. The CO said our case "looked good", but that she needed to get an NBI for her corrected name. She did. Stood in lines for over 6 or 7 hours, but she got it done in the same day - just like you.

This was on August 4th. To date, she has NOT received her visa and we have heard NOTHING from 2GO or the Embassy. In fact, this past Friday, I called the Embassy to get an update or find out what the hold up is. Unfortunately, the "screen readers" at the customer-service line can't/won't tell me anything, and refuse to transfer me to anyone who can help.

Our case is easy too - we had well-documented proof of having known each other for more than 11 years. Neither of us have any police records. She passed the Medical tests... We have no idea what could be the hold up! I have scheduled a vacation for August 31st - September 14th. I'll probably have to call in a few days to try to cancel my vacation. And at this rate, I may need to cancel her flight too.

06/20/2002 - Introduced through her Aunt
07/05/2002 - Correspondence begins and continues for years; friendship and feelings slowly but surely grow stronger.
05/12/2009 - Met in Philippines! Stayed for two weeks and had a great time. Can't wait to go back!
10/11/2009 - She said YES! (became engaged)

USCIS
10/29/2010 - Mailed I-129F
11/08/2010 - Check cashed
11/11/2010 - Received NOA1 dated 11/05/2010 (My case landed in Vermont - #######!)
11/15/2010 - Touched
04/05/2011 - It's been 5 months and not a peep from USCIS/VSC :-(
04/19/2011 - Touched/Text Message and Email this AM (APPROVED!)
04/22/2011 - Hard copy NOA2 received (166 days)

US Embassy
(All dates are Philippines dates)
05/20/2011 - Birth Certificate error cleared up
06/03/2011 - Fiancee waiting for her Passport
06/03/2011 - Not a peep from the Embassy (Manila)
07/21/2011 - Passport obtained
07/22/2011 - Interview scheduled 8/4
08/01/2011 - Fiancee and family on first flight EVER, to Manila
08/02/2011 - Medical
08/03/2011 - Medical (Passed, no concerns)
08/04/2011 - Interview! Passed! (they think)
08/24/2011 - Received Embassy email indicating fiance's visa has been issued!
08/31/2011 - 09/13/2011 Philippines Vacation!
09/14/2011 - Arrived together in Dallas, TX!

Mine's dated February 2011 and my interview is this week already. I live in the province and it will take 1 month to get a new NBI. I'm just praying i will get lucky and the Consul won't question the date of my NBI. :(

Unfortunately, I think they will. You could have committed A LOT of crimes since February 2011...

But apparently when they do tell you to get an updated one, you can go somewhere, stand in line for 6 or 7 hours and get a new NBI in the same day. My fiance claims to have done this, and mailed it to the embassy through 2GO all in the same day. However, I also think this has delayed her visa issuance. That all took place on August 4th, and to date (8/22/2011), she has NOT received her visa. I cant get anything from customer service except that her Passport is still in the Embassy. We are clueless as to what could be the hold up. Good luck.

Now, I'm getting nervous!

It never fails. There is always someone on VJ that thinks they can cut corners. What do you think? The NBI is requested but not necessary? You think they will just look the other way? :bonk:

and, You are asking God to help you cheat the system? Jeez! You knew it was expired in February but you decide not to renew 'cause you "hope" they won't question the date!

Kudos! That's a brilliant plan.

:secret: You know Charles told us to stop bickering with each other. Remember? He's gonna put both of us on a "post ignore". What fun will that be if we can't pick at each other sometimes. Edited by ~happyndinlove~

It's your "fact". We have unfinished business with this one. I remember you advised us to ignore posts we didn't care for. Why don't you follow your own advice?

Not bickering. Just asking a legit question.
