Just wondering where I can get free ringtones where I won't be automaticaly signed up and billed a membership . I've noticed that if you read the fineprint on alot of free ringtone adds that once you enter the pin number your signed up for 9.95 per month . I definetly don't want to be signed up for anything. And I don't want to have to sign up and then text message some number to cancel "at anytime" .

Anyone know?

My wife and I just bought new cell phones through Sprint yesterday..our first cell phones...I am pretty excited that I can call family in Canada now for only 9 cents a minute...I spoke with my sister in Toronto yesterday..clear as a bell...I can purchase ringtones on my phone through sprint for $2.50...I have been to a few ringtone websites and I know what you mean..I wouldn't give my cell number to any website...don't want to start getting monthly recurrant bills...My advice..call your cell phone provider.

Answers on how or where to get ring tones really depends on what type of phone and what kind of service you have.

Personally I have the Motorola E815. LOVE IT.. has a transflash disk.. I can make my own ringtones. and transfer to my mobile.

There is a wonderful website. Howardforums: Your Mobile Phone Community you can search your phone my manufacturer and also by way of service provider. For myself.. Verizon has tweaked the phone and if i used the simple Motorola information .. it sometimes wont work therefor I always make sure i look up the information for my phone via the Verizon connection.

There are alot of different ways to make your own ring tones. and many that you can get for free.

for my phone...

I've loaded many edited mp3 ringers on the e815 in one of 2 ways:

1. Edit the mp3 to be less than 300kb and 30 seconds (I also increase amplitude, & save as mono).

2. rename the .mp3 exension to .midi

3. email to vzwpix

4. save attachment as ringtone

or instead of step 3 (if you have the transflash card & reader):

3. copy mp3 to transflash on PC

4. put transflash back into e815

5. send dummy email (to 777-777-7777 as an example) with .midi file as attachment.

6. It will bounce, open it in your outbox.

7. Save midi file as ring tone.

look at the website.. do a bit of researching.. there are many many many phone geeks out there that know how to tweak the mobiles...

Sprint offers "Sprint PCS Canada" for something to the tune of $7.00/month where you can call Canada all the same as any destination in the US. So, if you're talking to your folks more than an hour and a quarter a month, you might want to look at that. Alternatively, skype.com offers free calls from your PC to landlines in the US and Canada for the remainder of 2006. We're currently using that and it works great.

browse to www.3Gforfree.com on your phone's browser...they have some pretty good ringtones there...and they're free, with no strings.

also, they have games, screensavers, etc. for free.

Thanks for the info. I called Radio Shack where we bought the phones and they checked into it and said that the sprint pcs Canada plan for $7.00/month was discontinued and now the plan is $4.00/month plus 9 cents/minute.

BTW..Congrats on the baby!!!! Best wishes to you and your new family.
