I saw the DS 230 in the example forms and read some comments about it in the topics.

I don't understand what it is and when to use it, the K1 and the embassy guides don't mention this form.

What is it for...do we or when do we need it? I filed K1 in June.

The DS-230 Immigrant Visa application is used at the Embassy/Consulate level. It is typically supplied in Packet-3 from the Embassy/Consulate, along with a myriad of other documents. Have a look at the Embassy site applicable to your case for more information.

The DS 230 is the Visa Application that will be required of the beneficiary after the I-129F is approved and before the visa interview at the US Embassy.

There is always another stupid form around the corner just when I think we got it all

figured out.

May I suggest adding that into the guides?

The form asks a lot of questions about the 'spouse'......he is my fiance still before the interview

and all the biographical questions are the same as G325A. Are you sure he needs it for K1?

Again the embassy does not list it on the Senegal page ( W. Africa ).

I want prepare him for every form ahead of time.

Hi, I didn't realize that the K-1 Guide ends at the petition phase.. someone oughta do somthin' about that...

Try here, in the K-1 FAQ:

http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-application.html

It appears that Dakar uses the NonImmigrant Visa application form:

http://usembassy.state.gov/dakar/wwwuvisakinstructions.doc

(wow, they have a great website!)

Follow their instructions; they don't use DS-230.

Contacting the U.S. Embassy in Dakar

If you believe your I-129F has been approved and forwarded to the U.S. Embassy in Dakar, please email consulardakar@state.gov. Please put the words "K visa applicant" in the subject line and provide the name of the petitioner, the name of beneficiary and the case number in the body of the email. Without this information, the U.S. Embassy cannot research your case.

not all Embassies use the DS-230 for a K-1 visa. it will be in the package if required by your Embassy.
