I was wondering if a keychain light would be (or not be) allowed to the US embassy interview?

It's not on the list of prohibited items (such as portable electronics, CPs, etc.)... but may I ask why you would want a keychain light?

Oh, it would be a light source for a simple but elegant demo, should they ask her what I do for a living :D

I'm sure the consular officer would be thrilled to watch your demo.

Are you an embassy interviewer?

Oh, no? Then I wouldn't worry about it, big guy.

Do I seem worried? ;)

If they won't let you bring in the keychain light, you could just bring in some matches in your shoe, just in case

^^^ Be careful with that one!!! The guards may give him a demo on what it's like to go to jail.

Full disclosure: I am not a guard at the U.S. Embassy Manila and I don't play one on TV. :P

I always carry an LED keychain light in my pocket and it wasn't a problem for me when I attended my fiancee's USEM interview. Upon entry into the embassy I didn't even have to empty my pockets. The guard just asked me pointedly (and smilingly) if I was carrying any cell phone, ipod, or other electronic gadgets, to which I calmly and repeatedly replied "no", and that was the end of it.
