So i've seen this on the checklist of people recently sending their I-130 for their SO. Last time I checked it is NOT necessary for the I-130, so I just want some clarification since I will be filing soon myself, and I don't want to send any extra paperwork.

1. Proof of citizenship. If you were born in the U.S.A (as I) then all you need is your birth certificate? Is it necessary to send a copy of all my passport pages as well? On the instructions on the uscis website, this is not clear, it doesn't say and/or. (This question is strictly to prove citizenship, i know a lot of people send the passport to show stamps)

2. Nowhere on the instructions does it say that if you are petitioning for your SO (unless I missed it), that you need a copy of their BC, i know this is needed for NVC, and used to be required in the past, but not anymore, right?

05/04/2012 - Interview (APPROVED)
05/10/2012 - Visa ready and picked up at domex
05/15/2012 - POE in Boston (together)

06/05/2012 - Green card arrived
06/15/2012- Back to SS office with green card to reapply and inquire about delay

04/24/14 - Sent I-751 to remove conditions

11/2014 - RFE from USCIS requesting more evidence before approval

03/15/2015 - Permanent 10 yr green card received via mail

1) Either passport or BC--stamps are nice proof of relationship if you have them available

2) Not needed until NVC stage

I think that sometimes people send both their birth certificate and copies of all pages of their passport because they would be proving two different purposes with each document; the BC would be to prove their nationality and the passport copies to prove their visits to the beneficiary's country.

Your fiance will eventually need to get his BC inextensa format and you would need a translation of it. You would also need to get a translation of your marriage certificate.

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Yes, I agree with others.

I prefered copy of Passport, as it revealed my trips abroad. Copy of either Birth Certificate for US born or Naturalization certficate for non-US born or Passport is sufficient.

No need of a copy of Beneficiary Birth Certificate at I-130 time - just G325A from Beneficiary.

I included a copy of Driver license with my parents address as proof of current residence, as I was a student in another place and was in the middle of graduating, where I didn't want anything to be mailed and as I was using my parents address as my mailing address.

Some include some additional evidence of relationship, if available, at I-130 level - like a notarized affidavit or two of relatives/ friends who knew about the marraige; a few emails or telephone log or chat log......

But if you don't want to send additional evidence, you are fine with a copy of Marraige Certificate.

01/08/13 - Approved and GC is order for production on 1/8/14

09/12/13 - Case transferred to CSC. NOA2 received on 09/18/13

08/30/13 - Biometrics Done - No walk ins allowed at this LSC (received on 8/16/13).

08/05/13 - NOA1 (received on 08/10/13)

08/01/13 - Mailed I-751 (received on 8/2/13 - check cashed on 8/5/13)

12/28/11 - Received SSN (applied on 12/20/11, as we didn't get based on DS-230 options)

10/25/11 - Interview Cleared Successfully (Spouse was not allowed in)

NVC: (90 days from NOA2 to Consulate)
08/31/11 - Case Completed (Interview 10/25/11) - Received at Chennai on 09/19/11
07/22/11 - NVC Case Number

USCIS: (92 days)

6/21/11 - NOA2 (NOA1 on 3/25/11) - took a month to get to NVC
3/21/11 - I-130 sent to USCIS Lockbox, Chicago.

I know the MC must be translated to send with I-130 BUT,

I thought his BC will not need to be translated because when you get to NVC documents can be in the language of the country you petition for? :(

You are generally correct that docs sent to NVC do not have to be translated if they are in the native language where you will do consular processing, but there are a few exceptions here and there. Call NVC or better yet, the embassy and ask just to be sure. I don't think the DR requires translation, and in fact I can't think of any Spanish speaking countries that do, but all it takes is a quick call or email to be sure unless someone who has gone thru the DR can say for sure.

Don't listen to the rest of us !! I can tell you everything about Costa Rica and Mexico, but the rest are generalities.

I took no translations to the consulate, my friend did and she said "they we're thrown out in front of me, total waste of money" ... So you don't need them for DR
