hi!

i live in South Carolina, and i officially received my green card! yay! its conditional green card. now i am only going to live down here for only a year. so here is my problem, i have a drivers license from my country, and been using it here, but South Carolina website for the dmv stated that once you have lived longer than 90 days you should apply for a drivers license. now my question is do i really need to? also does anyone know if i have to go through the whole drivers test? i dont want to be out here driving illegally on the road. hopefully someone out here knows??

Thank You!

Michelle

DL has different rule in each and every state, but yes you can drive on International Drivers Lic or on Lic from your home country if your country is on approved list.

Lot of the times even if your country is on list lot of the officers are not aware of this and can lead to nasty situation.

So seems that even in the best case scenario you might be able to skip theory, but you might have to take practical. Check your local DMV site as it varies in all state.
