I am applying for a K-1 visa for the USA, im from UK

I sent off my DS forms for my K-1 visa special delivery on the 21/07/2011, the post office have said that that was delivered but the embassy has no reocrd of this. The lady i spoke to on the phone at the embassy said this was normal. But i sent my DS-2001 a day later 1st class recorded but Royal Mail said it hasnt been delivered yet by their tracking.

I was wondering if, when i call the embassy to confirm if they have recived my applications, would it be worth telling them that i have sent the DS-2001 for already and to tell them that i am interview ready??

I know the DS-2001 form is a checklist so im wondering how important it really is, and if they cant just make a note for me on the computer or something to say that i am ready. I can send the DS-2001 form again, i just dont want it delayed anymore than it has to be by dumb postal people who mislay everything. Especially when the lady at the embassy said it can take up to 4 weeks for something to reach them.

I have my medical tomorrow so i have everything i need for my interview.....This kind of thing just really bugs me

Since packet 3 was delivered, they probably have been received - they just haven't been attached to your case yet. The embassy probably receives hundred/thousands of documents and can't process them straight away (as much as we wish they could). So yes - this is normal (just to re-assure.)

With regard to the DS-2001, unfortunately, I don't think a phone call will help. I believe they'll want the 'actual' paper. Royal Mail is slow - but that seems VERY slow. (You don't live in an area where there are often mail problems, do you? Like in a remote village or something, where it might take a bit longe?) Personally - if I were you - I would give it a few more days and then post another one off. But do note - this is just what I would do... not sure if it's 100% correct.... I can't imagine how frustrating that must be!!

I rang my embassy the day after i mailed everything in and told them I was ready for an interview and could i book a time over the phone. The lady gave me a time, but said she would mail me a letter of confirmation once all my paperwork had been recieved and processed.

You may as well ask, the worst they can say is no, and then you're no worse off :)

"The visa interview will not be scheduled until the Immigrant Visa Unit is in receipt of the results of the medical examination." So I don't see that the DS-2001 will slow things down at all. By the time they get your medical results they're sure to have all your forms too. Of course you can keep calling to ask if they have them, if you really want to. No harm in telling them you sent it.

Ya thanks everyone! I had my medical today and so that should be off soon. Just seems like my DS-2001 has got lost somewhere as the tracking doesnt say its been posted but still in the delivery network. I think i will give it to the end of the week and then contact royal mail but then i will also let the embassy know when i check up on them that i have sent the paper work off and that i am ready for the interview. Might be worth a shot, then see if i can get that lost DS-2001 form to them as quick as i can.

Just annoying, im doing everything i can to get through the stages as quick as possible but it is things beyond my control (i.e Royal Mail) That are messing things up and getting delayed. Just have to keep trying though!!

I live just outside London, so its not like a remote area or anything, which is why its more strange. I mean i cant fault Royal Mail personally because they have rarely let me down in the past its just when things are as stressful as visa processes, any hinderence is just going to add to the frustration. Im sure it will all work out in the end

Just as an FYI - I'm positive that somewhere on this forum I've read that people who've had their interview and everything still show a Royal Mail undelivered status for some of their paperwork; unfortunately I can't remember what thread that was. As far as I remember people on that thread gathered that Royal Mail delivered a stack of mail and missed the odd signature for the individual letters. I'm not saying your letter definitely got there but just because it shows as still en route in the system doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't.

Also, just to give you current timing - I have sent all my documents on 20th July, signed for delivered on 21st and they only got logged as received by the embassy today as per the lady at DOS.

Good luck!
