I Don't understand why covering preventative care is a bad thing? Did I miss something?

It's not that it's 'covered.' That's not the issue at all.

The issue and point of the OP was the fact that HHS is working without legislation and 'deeming' new laws/rules, etc. without the approval of congress, the president, and most importantly of all, the people.

As I said, some will cheer for things like this now, but then will be upset when their premiums go up an extra $40 a month next year....

oh but preventative care will cost us less in the long run

I am sure that's what you'd like us to believe, socialist.

The fact is if we let nature take its course and not treat anyone for anything unless they can pay entirely out of their pocket, that is the least expensive way to go.

Anything else is bleeding heart librulism. Makes me sick.

if HHS has their way from the Totalitarian health care law, then this might just happen.

expect there to be hell though if they ever mandate anything like that.

Expecting people to take care of their own health before they become a burden on society.. quelle horreur! *faint*

That's because it doesn't fit into the fantasy that liberals don't espouse personal responsibility. They just want government to be one enormous teet that anyone can suckle on no matter what age.

there's a difference in an 'expectation' and 'forcing' people to do something.

Everyone's all for 'forcing' others to do soemthing they feel that others should be 'forced' to do and then the idiots get all mad when they are 'forced' to do something they don't want to do.

The Government should not be demanding or forcing anyone to do anything.

So abolish all laws, because by your definition, that would be forcing people from acting freely. I think you've read too much anarcho-libertarian fanboi propaganda.

If you want to be a member in society, you will have to do certain things like it or not. Like getting a job & not robbing your local corner store, buy auto insurance, obey traffic laws, mowing your lawn and not set a grass fire, etc. If you don't like being "forced" to do something, like taking personal responsibility, you can always move to a lawless place where you don't have to play by a democratic society's rules.

That sounds like prison for an anarchist.

Can you give a real world example of the kind of country that espouses the way of life you envision? Real world examples please...no science fiction.

One that is not fvcked up like Somalia.

Liberty - every heard of it?

Forcing people to purchase a product, forcing people to go somewhere and do something is not liberty at all. It's communist/totalitarian bullshit.

There's a difference in 'laws' that keep members of society relatively safe when they are together in public, and laws that effect your overall personal life.

When you're on the road driving, you choose to do that. In that 'choice' there are rules that you sign off on.

You don't have a choice though when it comes to government demanding that you do something such as getting a physical every year. Actually, a lot of doctors will tell you that not everyone needs a physical every year or a checkup if they are healthy. Yet, here you are demanding government force people into submission. OR what? You want to put them in prison? You want them to pay a huge fine for it?

When people share a road while driving, they share risk. If you mess up, I could die. If I mess up, you could die. Or less extreme, if you mess up it could cost me. If I mess up, it could cost you.

Breathing the same air, sharing the same space carries with it the same risk. If you don't vax your kids, my kids could get sick (cost me money or they could die). If I don't vax my kids, yours could die or get sick. If you never go for checkups and allow a treatable heart condition to go undetected until it becomes a catastrophic health event, you're going to show up at the ER and cost everyone who has been paying premiums money. It would have been cheaper for us all (and you) had you gotten it fixed early.

Vaccination laws get questioned all the time. Kids today are over-vaccinated if anything.

The problem with health care is people have the entitlement mentality when it comes to it. It's a service. It does cost money. If you can't afford it? Tough luck. Sucks to be you. The idea that I should have to pay for you or you pay for me is absurd. Also "premiums" have little to nothing to do with who pays and who doesn't at the hospital. Anyone who tells you that is lying out their butt and I explained this in a thread last week. Anyone who understands how medical billing works knows this as well. It's the cash customers that get screwed in the end (i/e the "wealthiest of Americans" who don't carry insurance and pay out of pocket in most cases). Seriously, if a hospital knows you have money and are paying cash, the bill will be ridiculous. That's not the point though... Insurance is a choice, a choice to help you pay for something you might need. You understand the rules of insurance when you make that choice to purchase it.... You could just as easily put back $300 a month on your own into an account that gains interest, but people would rather throw money away.... If you're young and healthy, there is no need for you to have health insurance when you could be saving that money instead of throwing it away.
