Well we went for our interview in Atlanta on Tuesday and were approved! I had been so nervous as I wasnt sure we had enough evidence.

The interview was over in about 20 mins even though it seemed to be taking forever.

We arrived an hour early - we left home in plenty of time as it is a three hour journey to Atlanta and we wanted to give ourselves extra time in case there were any problems with traffic and we were worried about the parking.

There is ample free parking next to the building and we found a space almost immediately.

We went up to the 5th floor and sat waiting - there were a lot of people waiting. We were called in more or less on time.

The interview itself was conducted by a lady officer who did not smile or speak other than to ask the questions she needed to ask. She asked us both for our ID and my husband gave his driving licence and I gave her my EAD - she asked if I had state ID to which I replied no.

After we were sworn in she asked some of the yes/no questions off the I485, she then asked me to confirm the date I entered the US, my full name and address, date of birth, parents names, childrens names and their dates of birth, had I been married before and how long was the marriage. The questions she asked my husband were date of birth, home telephone number and address and about his previous marriage - how long had his marriage lasted. She then asked how and when we had met and how many times we had met each other.

The officer then asked me to get ready the evidence of our life together and she left the room for a few minutes - when she came back I gave her all the financial info and letters/correspondence we have from friends, photos, bills in my husbands name but paid by me as detailed on our check register, bank statements, cell phone bill and credit card bill. She looked at the bank statement and the check register and a couple of the bills, glanced at the photographs (we only took 6 with us) and then gave me the paperwork back. She kept a couple of copies of some bills. She did a lot of flicking through paperwork in our file and looking at the computer.

She then picked up my EAD and literally threw it across towards the back of the desk. She typed something into the computer and then told me that I was approved for residency for two years and that my card will be mailed within 2 weeks.

We are so happy and relieved that this over with for now - I know we will have to apply within 2 years to have the conditions removed and I am hoping that will not be as stressful.

We are really looking forward to getting on with our life together and not worrying about RFE's, interviews etc!!!! (well for another 2 years at least)

I hope anyone else going to Atlanta for an interview finds this post useful.

Thanks to everyone who gave me support/advice during the past few months - we really appreciate it!

congratulations!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
