Hi All,

We are in the process of bringing my mother over to the US from China, today we received the letter that says "The National Visa Center has completed its processing of your case and forwarded your file to the designated American Embassy/Consulate. etc"

When I go to the GUANGZHOU consulate website it says when my mother has her appointment she would need to bring her passport, photos and originals of marriage, police, birth certificates and I864 form.

My question is: we already submitted all these original documents to the NVC when we filled out that immigration form (packet 3?).

So should I have my mother go apply for new original documents? or are copies fine at her interview?

Thank so much for the help, we just want a head start if she will need more originals...

You should try to contact them via e-mail or phone just to clarify. I would say since she has sent the originals they would not expect her to bring more originals with her..

Good Luck and Best Wishes

You shouldn't have submitted originals to NVC. You should have sent copies. Since they have originals in the file they will hopefully not ask her to produce an original at the interview, but they do have that discretion.
