Just curious to know how long it has taken people to receive visa approval after their interview. I have to be in the US by Sep. 26/11 and I'm wondering if scheduling my interview for Aug. 17/11 gives me enough time. Thanks in advance!

It can be anywhere from at the interview, to a few days, to a few weeks, to over a year later if a person is required to submit additional documents or is put into Additional Processing. The range can be that large.

Thanks, Anh. I'm hoping that since the process has been very smooth so far, that it will be a few days to a few weeks. I can live with either.

The trend with Montreal in the last 3 months has been 2 to 4 weeks. That's when you would get your passport back after the interview should your case be complete at the time of your interview.

I have no idea about Vancouver's timeline.

You would have much more success posting this in the Canadian regional forum.

Interview in Montreal on Tuesday, July 19th and Visa in hand in Alberta 72 hours later on Friday at noon.

Our case was seamless as well.

Good luck!

Additional processing is rare for Canadians. When I interviewed at Vancouver in 2009, I was able to pick mine up the next day. I understand that that is much rarer now, but from what I understand, they're pretty fast. You should have it within a week or two, I would think.

DON'T PANIC

Unlike Margie&Doug and xocanin, my interview was on July 19th in Montréal and I still do not have my passport. :s

I wouldn't say they sped up. Depends on the people i guess. But I have no idea why it's taking so long for me.
