I-865, is it only the sponsor who fills this out?

Hi, thank you in advance.

I was hoping someone could explain to me whether or not I had to fill this form out. First off, my mother is my husband's sponsor and she has not moved, but my husband and I have moved to a new house. The instructions only say for the sponsor, but I'm not sure if I should cover my bases by filling it out too (since I am the spouse). Any advice?

You as the petitioner are the primary sponsor. From what you are saying your mother is a joint sponsor. Any sponsor uses the I-865 to file a change of address.

Answer: You are your husband's sponsor and should submit the I-865.

Sorry to piggyback/hijack the thread, just want to be sure I understand this correctly - a joint sponsor does not need to fill an I-865, correct? Only primary sponsor?

(I'm asking because my husband is my sponsor, my father in law is my co-sponsor, and my father-in-law is moving - we are not.)

Married since 03/02/2011, AOS from F-1 visa, green card granted 05/24/2011.
Blessed with a healthy baby boy, 08/19/2011! We get to keep our family together! Thank you! smile.png
