Hi,

I just got my green card approved at consular and now i have been actively looking for a job in US. BTW, i am currently working in Malaysia. Consider i got a job interview and ask me to go over to US for a face-to-face interview, should i enter the US using my immigrant visa or visiting visa (B1)? As the job interview is not a guarantee until an offer letter is provided and i am afraid that i will start losing my financial support if the employer does not offer me a job. I have a loan that need to be paid every month. I have 6 months before my immigrant visa expired so i am planning to go there only just before the visa get expired.

My question would be:- can i enter the US using my visiting visa for the interview? Thanks for everyone's advise.

Congratulations on your visa approval!

Besides the visa officer asked about how you know your spouse, when you met her, etc, is there anything need to be concerned? Did the officer ask to see any supporting evidence or pics? Was the officer nice? I heard that one Caucasian female officer is very unfriendly!

You must enter United States with your immigrant visa and your visitor visa is eventually canceled! Did the visa officer cross out your visitor visa during the interview?

When you pass through the POE, your passport will be stamped with I-551 and you can leave and return again within 6 months. If you need to stay out of the United States for more than 6 months, then you have to apply for a reentry permit.

The officer is a male chinese american i believe. He is nice. Not much question asked. Never ask for any supporting evidence or pics (as i have sent those pics previosuly at NVC).

So my visiting visa will be void? That is not good. It still left with 5 yrs before get expired.

I believe he is the one without glasses and he is from LA. I heard he is pretty nice with smiley face! Nice, you are so lucky not facing the Caucasian lady!

As I know, you are not allowed to have more than 1 visa at the same time! Did you see the officer cross out your visitor visa?

uhm - once you hit a POE with yer CR-1 visa, you'll get a stamp that validates it as an I-551 document, a temporary green card, with a year's validity on it (from POE date )

You could actually come through a POE, turn around and leave the country, the same day, because of that stamp in yer passport, given at POE.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

U must enter the US using your immigrant visa. They would have cancelled your B1 visa at the interview itself. That's wat they did to mine. I had a coronary for a moment until he told me not to worry and that they're giving me an immigrant visa instead! Phew!

You must enter before the immigrant visa expires. That's what I just did and I came back within 3 weeks. I just took a paid vacation instead to settle all my work here and wrap up before i leave for good sometime next yr. About the job interview, I'm not in a position to help but you are right and I'm in the same boat as you are. I have a home and car to pay for. disposing of the car is easy but my home is not even ready and I'm servicing the installments. Hopefully it will be ready as planned (end of this yr) so I can dispose of it or rent it out and leave for the US.

I got my GC based on an F2B which later converted to an F2A. It took close to 10yrs during which I tried applying for the DV unsuccessfully. My GF who is a first time applicant got selected for DV2015! We're keeping our fingers crossed.
