no stamp at jfk airport

hello vj members,,,

i arrived at jfk airport last week on an ir-1 visa.i didnt get any stamp on my passport at port of entry. i was only asked to sign and the the other port of entry process. no entry date on my passport,just nothing apart from my visa from embassy. beneath the visa it was written 'i551 serves as permanent resident for one year upon endorsement,could this be why i didnt get any stamp on my passport. my hubby called cis though and was told to expect greencard in the mail in three weeks time.

i need your inputs on this one please.

That I-551 stamp is the equivalent of a green card. The actual green card is called an I-551.
