Hello,

My wife and I each received a little red book when we got married in China. The books are a little different from each other. They both have the same information just in reverse order. Anyways, do I need to send in a copy of both for the cr-1 petition or will a copy of mine be fine? Thank you.

Either is fine...BUT! Did you have a Notorial Translation (AKA 'White Book') done in China? If not, your wife needs to get this done now. Then, she can bring the White Book to a Copy Shop, have it scanned, and email it to you so you can print it and include it with your I-130 Petition.

Hello,

I don't think it would matter too much what copy of the red book is sent in. When we were getting married, the woman at the government office was making our red books I asked about a notarial certificate. The woman handed us a business card where we can get that done. The place was maybe four blocks from the government building in Shijiazhuang and I was a tad shocked to find out the service was going to cost 700 yuan (I would guess the woman at the government building gets a piece of that for sending us to them). A few days later STO Shentong Express handed us a package containing two notary "white books." A funny thing happened at the notary service place. The girls that work there made a comment that we were their first American/Chinese couple that didn't have a 15+ year age gap. I knew we needed to get them and we are glad we did. Thank you.

ok - so you have a white book.

OR TWO WHITE BOOKS.

send in a PHOTOCOPY of the one that lists HER name first. If you check them, the two versions - one lists your name first, the other lists her name first.

Send in a PHOTOCOPY of hers with I-130 submittal.

Later, at NVC, if you OPT IN to NVC Electronic Processing, send in a scan of her white book.

Ultimately, at Interview Document Intake Day (Day before the interview) she'll give the original white book to the document screener.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
