I think the skirt and shirt sound fine if you are comfortable with them. You will do great on your interview. Just have all of the required paperwork prepared and relax. Alot of people on VJ have been approved in Rio with no problems as long as they had the necessary forms. Good luck on Tuesday!

My lawyer said no excessive makeup, but didn't elaborate as I don't wear makeup at all anyway, so it was a moot point. She wasn't really the one telling me to dress up, either -- she told me jeans were fine. I just went and looked it up online and saw a lot of posts (many of them here) that talked about dress shoes and whatnot, so I freaked out!

Hi guys,

My K-1 interview is on Tuesday (the 19th), in Rio. I hadn't given my clothes any thought at all. I work from home and I'm extremely casual, and my lawyer (yes we have a lawyer -- long story, we really needed one in our case) had said to just wear whatever I was comfortable with because it totally didn't matter, as long as I was well groomed and not wearing makeup (which I don't do anyway).

So I had chosen a (nice) pair of jeans, a white t-shirt and a denim jacket and my best sneakers (black leather Nikes, brand new). Now I am reading all over the place that I should wear dress shoes and that jeans are a terrible idea. I don't even own (nor can I afford at this point) dress shoes or fancy pants. I'm an artist and I just had to pay all those fees + the trip to Rio (I'm in Sao Paulo), I'm completely and utterly broke. Am I screwed? Are they going to think I'm some kind of hobo? Is there anything I can do about this? Would a nicer shirt improve the situation?

Please help! I'm so freaked out right now, I'm shaking.

Hello! my thoughts for you is to dress like you are going to visit your grandmother ;)

Portuguese: Meu conselho é que você poderia se vestir como fosse visitar sua avó. Depois me avisa como foi sua entrevista.

Xocanin,

Wear something comfortable. This is not a fashion show. They are not interviewing your clothes. They want to know that your intentions for getting a K-1 are legitimate. Relax. Fill out the paperwork correctly and answer the questions they ask you. That is all you need to do.
