So after watching all those stupid Mac Vs. PC commercials, and laughing at the one where PC is all bruised up the same thing happened to me today. I would love to say that it is just cheap plastic, and that it cracked on its own, but I pulled it off my desk and a case cracked, so it was totally my fault. now it is not that bad that it doesn't work anymore, but it is a little annoying.

I just wanted to vent a little.

Alex

P.S. does anyoen know if I can just buy a new case, and replace it myself (I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop)

major thing you will need to transfer over to "new" compy is HD and arrange desktop and favorites... all else is subjective.

Laptop case is something that is not available. What I would do is get a newer laptop, and remove the hard drive from the old one and install the hard drive in an external USB drive shell, to get at things like favorites, and other documents from the old computer.

I do this quite often in my line of work.

Of course - silly us for not thinking of that!!! Naturally we all have the money to replace a laptop at the drop of a hat...

My job is MCSE and A+ computer technician, I know that a laptop case is not something that can be purchased, Toshiba only makes enough to build complete systems and some extra upper shells, the part with the display for display replacement in the event of a failure of the display.

There are a few parts venders that buy old laptops and part them out, but the odds of the part vendor having the correct shell is low, and they tend to charge big price for the shell.

Just this week I had one of the employees at the college bring a laptop in that they dropped and broke the case, the laptop is only 1 year old, I called the vender to get a price on the shell and was told that that part in no longer available because the laptop is discontinued.

The best bet is look for an inexpensive used computer on eBay.

Can you glue it with some 'goop'? I love goop.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
