Feedback about package

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum so thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions.

I would love to get your feedback about the package we sent (arrived to California service center on June 22)

- Joint lease (the lease expired at the end of May... we are in the process of looking for a new place in the city and have not signed any new lease yet.. subletting in the meantime)

- Joint utilities

- Joint checking account since January

- Car insurance with both our names on it

- Life insurance (only I - the petitioner - got one with my husband being the primary beneficiary)

- 2 affidavits from friends

- Photos

- Marriage license and certificate

We do not submit joint tax returns since both of us do our taxes through our companies - how important that is in your opinion?

Do you think this is good enough or are we likely to be asked for further evidence? What else can we provide if they ask?

You dont need the marriage license or certificate.

Joint tax returns are VERY important in my opinion.

I don't see joint credit card or joint medical in your list. You can include photocopy of both of your drivers licenses. Joint cellphone bills / joint home phone bill.

^Definitely agree. Even though your taxes are taken care of by your employers you can still order transcripts through IRS.

Thank you both for your input. The problem is we have never filed taxes together because we own our own companies and we file through these entities (pass through entities). Our accountants advised to keep taxes separately. I already submitted

the package without joint tax return. Did you hear about a case in which this raised red flag the USCIS asked for further evidence or interview? I am trying to prepare some other stuff in case they get back to us. Thank you again!

If additional information is requested you could include the tax transcripts showing status as "married filed separately" with the explanation you stated above. Do you have drivers licences showing the same address, joint credit cards, joint health insurance? Best of luck!

The number 1 piece of evidence would be the tax returns.

It's okay to file separately; what matters is that you both filed as being "married" to one another on your tax returns.
