Hello, my name is Blaž and me and my fiancee recently discovered, when we tried to look up the status of our NVC case status, that they have no case on us? We've received an I-797 where the USCIS claims to have sent the approved petition to the NVC on June 7th, and we have not had any status about it since. Now, the notice says it should take somewhere around 2-4 weeks for NVC to process it and send it to the embassy, but most people get it within 10 days. It's been more than 30 days, so we decided to inquire at the NVC today, only to find out that they have no record of our case. I am pretty certain that mail does not take one month to arrive from USCIS to NVC. I'm pretty worried about all of this, what do you think we should do? The way I see it, we already lost a month due to a postal mishap and I'm worrying real bad on this one. Where do we even go from here? Do we contact USCIS or NVC about it?

Thank you in advance,

Blaž

There have been some hefty delays with approvals going from the California USCIS to NVC - looks like it started in early June though a few trickled in at the end of last week... Sounds like you only did the automated NVC check.. Once you are past 15 weekdays from your NOA2 the NVC will make an inquiry to the USCIS to find your paperwork.. On Monday give them a call and talk to person and they will give you instructions to make an inquiry and get your paperwork moving again..

USCIS wont help you - I talked to a tier 2 person about it and was told they have no visibility after approval...

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

Yes, we did the automated check today, because we've sent 2 manual email inquiries and got no replies in 6 days. I sure hope you are right about the California center being slow, cause I'd hate to deal with lost mail and all the complications that come along with it. Not to mention time loss. Thank you for your reply :)

Thank you,

Any particular reason for the mass delays and when they're likely to alleviate? We've compiled a few numbers to call, I've already sent emails to our representative and senator. It doesn't really ease our nerves any though at this point. One of the issues too is that there's an expiration date on our petition for October and if this delay sets in for another couple of months...

If you look in the IR-1/CR-1 tracking forums there are a few threads on the California USCIS-NVC issue. The IR-1/CR-1 filers have a few extra steps at the NVC stage so they watch it a bit more carefully ;) I saw two from 5/31, a couple from 6/7 and another from 6/13 get though this week so they are starting to move again.

Not that we know of... the process is invisible from USCIS Approval to NVC entry (normally 3 days so nobody usually cares).. people have had luck once past the 15 days in having the NVC make inquiries to the USCIS.

othing that i would have known of. Huh?

Sorry I should have been more clear, I was responding to the first part "Any particular reason for the mass delays" - I have not seen any answers as to why other than NVC implying that they did not get the paperwork from the USCIS.

Don't use automated talk with someone they had no record of ours on the automated line and when I talked to someone it had left the day before to the Embassy. It took then 2 weeks to record it in and the at the 30 day mark it was on its way to the embassy

I would call and talk with a a person they will ask for your receipt number name fiancee name both birthdays and emails then they will ask the reason for the call you tell them you want a status update and the will give you the latest news on it (if received, if processed, if RFE, or if sent to embassy. If the say sent to embassy then go to DHL.com and you can track it buy using the date they give you for being sent to the embassy. Let say they say it was sent on july 09 2011 then under refrence number tracking type EXP 09 JUL 2011A set your search days from july 08 to present day then hit search and it will tell you all the files sent that day and the one going to your embassy is probably your file. You can sign up to be notified when it is delivered.... Good LUCK

Ok so I called my embassy in Slovenia and they said they already have it there. So NVC is very bad on updatin people and sending notices. So if you're waiting more than 3 weeks you should call up your embassy. I'm pretty sure your petition is there already.

What a relief...phew

K1 petitions are not entered into the automated system at NVC, so if inquiring about it, always talk to a real person
