My only regret...

The only regret I have in marrying my wife and the family we have with our baby, Shen, since I am older, is that it took so late into life before all this beauty happened in my life. I regret not having 50-75 years to still spend with my dear wife and beautiful son, but am eternally thankful for the present and the future together yet to come.

Don't regret it! All things happen in God's perfect time :) I understand how you feel though. Two days ago I attended my first military funeral, the death of a 24 yr old marine who was my husband's good friend. It really made me see how short and precious life is, and we must not take anything for granted. My husband is leaving me soon for a 14 month deployment which sucks, but I will just continue to have faith because I know God is looking out for us, and he is watching over you guys too :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Thanks y'all. I only said something about it because life IS short, and coming into this wonderful marriage on the shorter end of life makes it all the shorter. I worked a lot in nursing homes and that was something that always made me so aware of just how short. And I remember what seems so little time ago when my parents were my age now, and they are not in good health with terminal illnesses. It just makes me so much more aware of how each day and each special moment needs to be enjoyed and treasured to the fullest. There is no time in life for "stupid" concerns in life. We need to be happy and thankful for what we have each day. I know I thank God each day for what I have in my wife and son. And at meal times we pray, and I thank God then too for our loving family. I wont let a day go by that I dont give thanks for my wife and my son. They truly are the greatest earthly gift I have ever received.

Where are you deployed to? I was in the Army during both peace AND war times, but I didnt stay in to retire and sure wish I had. Overseas was Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.
