Hi THere!

I'm a few days away from my husbands interview in Montreal and am just prepping some evidence, etc, and came across something that said I am supposed to register for a DHL courier. I wasn't sure if it was old information. Do I really need to register for a DHL courier before our interview? A few of the links were broken but I finally came across this page: http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/verify_account

I'd appreciate anyone clearing this up for me. Thank you!

Yes. You absolutely do.

The consulate exclusively uses DHL to ship your husband's passport/packet of information back to him. And when you register, you can choose the closest DHL location to him.

Yup, you absolutely need to register for DHL. It's the only way you'll get your passport/visa back along with the sealed envelope. On the CSC website, they have instructions on how to sign up. I also have screenshots on my blog step-by-step on how I signed up. The post is here: http://journeythroughimmigration.blogspot.com/2011/04/dhl-location-chosen-interview.html The process might be slightly different now, I'm not sure. This was back in late April when I signed up.

How soon do they send it? Should it be his home address or the DHL location closest to the Montreal consulate?

They send it after they approve all the paperwork after a successful interview and print the visa, attaching it to the passport. This can be a few days or a few weeks. Montreal, a few months ago, was taking an average of 6 days, but it seems to have considerably slowed down since then.

They send it to DHL branches across Canada. You can have it mailed to your house for an extra fee. Here's a link to the PDF which lists all the DHL branches you can choose from: http://csc.public.s3.amazonaws.com/us_content/DHL_Locations.pdf

Not sure. Check your embassy/consulate if you have to register for any courier service.

Nope, the DHL service provided by the consulate is free :) You only have to pay if you want it shipped right to your house instead of picking it up.
