We have our interview next month and out of the list of things to bring ( basically everything already submitted ) is the spouses BC.

Problem is... as many of you married to a woman from SEA..many documents are not kept and or are never issued. ( as in the case of my MIL's BC, which was never issued and she only guesses about her birth date..)

Wife has a copy of her BC with the english translation ( Thai one from 42 yrs ago is on like notebook paper and has the offical stamps all over it ) She told me that the original was lost many many many moons ago and this is all she has. Spoke to my MIL back in Thailand and she confirms that the original was lost years ago.

Now.. if they even ask to see it, am I going to be able to explain this to the IO w/ favorable results... ya think?

I'm not to worried about it anymore.. it's either approved or not and if not we can move back to Thailand  คิดถึงจัง!

If it was accepted at the consulate then it should be accepted by USCIS.

Edit: Sorry, I just noticed which subforum I'm responding in.

Was the certificate issued and certified by the local Amphur district authority?

Yes. The copy is from the original, issued in 1969 @ Bang Sue Muang ( Amphur..same place we got married at ). MIL went to the Amphur in Bang Sue to see about getting another copy last year and was told that they no longer had those. It was too long ago. ( as all things there, I'm sure if I would come up with 1000 baht a "original" could be procurred )

She managed to acquire her B1/B2 using it, so maybe no problems. ( That was at the US Embassy, BKK )

Just wonderin'
