Hello everybody!

Last week my NOA2 got approved; I am so happy about it!

Now I have a question concerning the further procedure. From what I understand I will be contacted by the embassy in Frankfurt when they received my documents.

How will Frankfurt contact me? Via regular mail?

I saw that some of you know when the NVC received and sent your documents. How did you get this information? Did you call them? Do I have to take any action concerning the NVC?

Thank you in advance for any helpful answer!

The NVC will send a letter to the US petitioner's house by regular mail when they have forwarded the package to the embassy.

The embassy will contact you by regular mail when they've received and logged your package.

Some people phone the NVC directly to find out little details such as what happened when. The NVC are going to assign you a new case number (so it wont be the uscis one anymore) and you will need that case number from now on for all your correspondance with the embassy etc.

If you want to speed up the process you can call the Department of State, their number is 202-663-1225 because they will know everything about your case at Frankfurt - when its been logged, when they've sent your mail, when they've received your medical results, when they schedule your interview etc.

Good luck :)

You can call NVC, ask about your case#, and add beneficiary's email.

USEM in Germany contacts you with a cover letter asking you to go to

http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/iv/step3/ (read about K visa applicant, click to see next steps)

The another link; http://germany.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/visa/instructions_for_fiancee_-visa_applicants01-2008.pdf

They just recently started doing everything through email in Denmark. Here, you'll only get a .pdf(cover letter) with instructions via your email. I don't know if it's the same process in Germany so it'd be great if a K1'er from Germany has more info.

Once you have the new case number you can go ahead with the medical. It clearly states in the second link you do not need to have the appointment letter in order to schedule medical but they might want you to have your NVC/embassy case number(probably begins with FRN2011).

..and congrats on NOA2 : )

EDIT: And as someone mentioned, DoS is worth gold when it comes to shaking out info about your K1 application and where it's at : )

He he! Completely understand. Closing that gap feels great though.

Remember you can't use their "type case number on phone" since it's a K1 and they don't log them the same way. Talk to a person, they'll probably ask of your name/fiance´s, birth date and USCIS/VSC case number.

It takes approx 37 days from Embassy receiving case to interview judging from German K1 VJ timelines. Have your stuff ready and hopefully time flies by, some people have luck requesting an interview date sooner than the one they originally were given. Best of luck : )

So I called NVC and they said it takes about 10-15 business days (from the notice date of NOA2) until the case will show up in their computer-system. I guess that means they won't work on it until then, so it can take quite a while until they send it to the embassy. :(

I've seen it move faster than that in timelines on here. So maybe there's hope?!

Hello Everybody.

Since my fiancee is going to interviewed at Frankfurt, I would like to ask this question. I appreciate your help.

We haven't got our case # from NVC yet. However is it OK to fill the packet 3 from online and send it? I ask this question because the embassy web site says to fill the forms and send it as soon as possible to set up interview appointments and NVC told me to call them and find out about the petition around July 8.

I appreciate your response

Thanks

You didn't file a "NOA2" so a NOA2 can't be "approved". Your Petition got approved. NOA2 just means second notice from USCIS which could have been an RFE.

I don't think you can send anything to the embassy beforehand. As far as I know you have to wait until they (Frankfurt Embassy) contacts you and asks you to send it (in Packet 3).

In our case the petition was at NVC 4 days in total, from USCIS sending to NVC received it took 7 days. On second call they told case number to my fiancé, third call they told me when it was shipped to embassy - which was same day as fiance talked to them. First call was jumping the gun, I admit.

It's the manual part(snail mail, sorting through it, putting it into their system etc) that's the cause of the wait at this stage. Same goes for embassy so even after they have it in their possession it may take a little while before you hear from them, and the same goes for the embassy. I was on the phone with an Embassy lady for about 20 minutes where she provided me with lots of info. She then looked through her coworkers case files manually and found mine.

It might help to get a better idea of the process, and not completely lose your patience :) You can call NVC back in a day or two and ask again.
