I'm just a little confused on who exactly is included in the household size when using a co-sponsor. For instance, my mom is my co-sponsor so does the household size include her, my stepdad, my stepbrother, my husband and me? My husband and I will not be living with them but I do understand that he will be included in the household size because of sponsorship. That's kind of what I'm getting from everything I've read. I guess I just want to make it clear. Thanks!

Your mom will be filing an I-864 and you will be filing an I-864. On your I-864 the household size will be 2. On your mom's I-864 the household size will be 4: her, her husband, the step-kid who is living at home, and the immigrant.

You are correct that your mom would enter your husband on the I-864 that she will fill out as joint sponsor.

Is your stepbrother dependent? Since you and your husband will not be living with your mom and stepdad, I am concluding you are not dependent and she therefore would not count you.

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Correct. I am not dependent but the step-brother, though not living in the same household as step-father and mother, is a dependent on step-father's taxes.
