Well as Mark Twain says "quiting smoking is easy, I have done it a thousand times". That being said, this works for me, because I will not smoke around Jenny and her daughter. I hit the patch 21's for 2 weeks, then the 14's, for about a week, after that I am ready to stop.

Willpower. Just decide what is more important to you... smoking? Or being with SO. Hypnosis.. why let someone else screw with your brain??

It's not that easy unfortunately. I hardly called hypnosis screwing with my brain. It's positive subconscious thoughts.

Congratulations on being ready to quit! You can and will succeed if you are ready. When my boyfriend decided to quit, he decided that night before his last day. He ordered the patch and so far, he hasn't had a cigarette since March. He's doing well! (He better be doing well, or he'll find his ### on the curb ;) )

You don't need patches, hypnosis or any other kind of voodoo to quit smoking. You have to WANT to quit smoking to stop, and you have to WANT to quit smoking in a very big way. Three things that helped me keep off of them whenever I was weak, was to think of three big benefits of not smoking....

1. better health

2. more money to spend on other things (mine was $200 habit a month)

2. not stinking up the place (do u realize how much u STINK to a non smoker?).

Cold turkey and will power will get you there. After three weeks of cold turkey, I had pretty much forgotten about smoking. Also, buy a bunch of lollipops to suck on during those first three weeks too...holding that stick helps a great deal.

Good luck!

I tried the patches, I was allergic to the adhesive. I tried the gum, its gross. So then I did Wellbutrin. Worked like a charm and I haven't had a smoke since May 2003.

Hypnosis works for some, but not everyone. Just like any other stop smoking plan. Just like some people can take one Tylenol and their headache is gone, others need to take prescription pain killers. Everyone is different. Not everyone can manage to survive thru the withdrawl and detox. Wellbutrin helps with that, it somehow turns off the addiction centre in the brain or sumthin, they're not really sure. It turned out to be a side effect of treatment for depression, so now its also used for quitting smoking.

I too had a friend who used hypnosis for smoking. One session and he's never touched another one since. I can get the name of the therapist if you like. I've used hypnosis for a phobia, had 3 sessions and feel cured.

After several attempts of patches and gum I finally gave up cold turkey. I had to be ready mentally to do it, and then it felt really easy (after 15 years of smoking). Haven't had a ciggie since June 2000.

Was it scary? I'm really seriously thinking about trying hypnotherapy to help cure my night-time anxiety and panic attacks... I've dealt with all my major causes of daytime anxiety, but there's not much I can do about being afraid of choking to death in my sleep :(

No, it wasn't scary at all. It was quite relaxing. Most people are pretty ignorant about hypnosis 'cos they have only seen it on the TV which is NOT what happens to you in a session. I was always aware of what was going on, but it was like being half asleep. I cried a lot during my sessions as I had a lot of emotional stuff to shift. After every session I came out bouncing around and feeling fantastic. A huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I didn't think it would work for me, but it did. No harm in giving it a try if you can. Ask around and get a recommendation. Some of them are probably dodgy just like any profession.

Does hypnosis work on monkeys?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Does hypnosis work on monkeys?

Sadly no, as they are further along the evolutionary chain than humans, what with having already gotten rid of the apendix and all.

Yes, yes it is that easy. what is more important places higher priority in your life and mind make it that much easier. I was smoking since I was 13... after over 20+ yrs... just stopped because the wife is MUCH more important than the smokes. and anyone that can place "suggestions" into your subconcious IS screwing around in your brain.

I went last night to hypnotherapy.

SHe used EFT as well (www.emofree.com), which totally helps calm you down.

You go into hypnotic states several times a day, and when you are falling asleep or waking up. Interesting!

The hypnosis part was just her talking to me in a sleepy state. I'm hoping it works - the next 48 hours will be the hardest I think.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I went the hypnosis route on the very day the Challenger blew up in 1986.

Haven't touched a cigarette since......

One note here though. Find a reputable person as there are many supposed "theatrical" hypnotists out there that'll do no more than take your money.

The guy I used had impressive credentials such as he was the sole source that the local police department used (under contract) in police investigations.

YAY! I keep hearing about successes & I'm ready for mine to be one as well!

I went in at 4:15PM yesterday & left at 7PM. My hypnotherapist is an RN as well. Gave me a hypnotic CD to listen to every night for 3 weeks. Spent an amazing amount of time with me. Well worth the $140.
