Hi everyone,

I just have a question. I already got my CR1/IR1 visa, it was issued on June 16th and expires in December

Now on the instructions says that I should surrender my packet at POE as soon as possible because some documents might expire.

The problem is that it would be too expensive since we are about to buy a car, rent an appartment and we have two kids so my husband will come to pick me up at the airport to help me with luggage and kids. All that adds up quite a lot.

I called the medical and they said that the medical are good for six months, the visa is good for six months, my passport is good till next year and Mexico doesn't require police records so I don't have to worry about them

Now we are planning on leaving in the beginning of August, so that'll be less than two months after the visa was issued.

What else could expire?

Somebody around that entered the States after two months or more after the visa was issued?

Should I go ahead and book the tickets for August, that way we´ll save quite a lot :)

Thanks all

Nothing is going to expire--your visa is valid for six months or six months after your medical was complete--whichever comes first, but that is reflected in the date of your visa. Take your time--you have been under plenty of pressure and now you have a little time to relax.

Thank you so much for your answer,

You know every piece of advice you've gave me has become true so I'll trust you :)

You came to my mind after my interview was over since you said that no evidence was going to be asked and that's exactly what happened :)

Thanks againg!

No problem. Nothing is going to expire that soon.

I am absolutely thrilled when we can simplify things that others make too complex--life is actually pretty easy--even dealing with USCIS and NVC and the consulates if we just do what they want, and give them the documents they ask for--no more, no less. But every consulate is different, so this is not a one size fits all process. CDJ is particularly easy, but they are VERY picky, so for folks still waiting for your turn, do EXACTLY what they want and you will breeze through the interview there.

Congratulations, and as they say at the POE, Welcome to the United States !!!

Do go by the VISA dates stamped inside the passport, the contents of the sealed package reflect those dates in the visa.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
