I-90 with reason "D" (USCIS error)

Recieved my Green Card with my Husbands Birthday on it, so we submitted an I-90 with reason "D" (USCIS error). We got the approved recipt back from USCIS, that is was there issue.....after hearing nothing for three months we scheduled a USCIS InfoPass Appointment at the Detroit Office. When we arrived and looked up my case at the USCIS office, they said they could not find my case, turns out they input the wrong A#........anyways this all leads up to my real problem

After multiple "blunders" w/ my greencard, we recieved a new letter for "REQUEST FOR EVIDENCE, submit documentary evidence of your legal name".

The issue appears to be w/ my middle name. When I submitted MY I-485, I added a middle name and my new last name. Last name changed to my husbans name, moved my last maiden name to my middle name. Previous to this I did not have a middle name. Now it appears they need documents to prove that I could legally change my middle name, but im not sure what to send them. my marriage certificate only shows my firt and last name; (maiden name) on my passport. I only have 4 weeks to respond w/ the appropriate documeents

1. Do I need to apply for a name change w/ the district court house?

2. can I get my marriage certificate changed to reflect my middle name?

3. my understanding is, middle name is not a legal name, so why is this an issue w/ USCIS?

please help

hmmmm im really not too sure what to do here. i would definitely write a cover letter explaining just what you have said here, and attach the copy of your marriage certificate, birth certificate and passport. if USCIS need more info, im sure they will request again or ask you in for an interview maybe???

sorry i wish i could help more!

What state do you live in? I know in California you have to use your full legal name (including your middle name) on things like your driver license. You may want to check with an attorney or legal aid in your state on the legal way to make the change that you would like to make with your name. We changed my husband's name through the court, and it took several weeks.
