The Difference Between IR-1 / CR-1 and K-3 Visas?

Can someone tell me what the main differences are between IR-1 / CR-1 and K-3 visas? Why some people go for one over the other?

Simple IR1 and CR1 are basically same it just depends on time he enters US after the marriage.

K3 is no longer a valid option.

Things change. We now have at least three reports of recent I-129F for spouse petitions arriving at NVC ahead of the I-130 and getting forwarded to Consulates. It looks like USCIS has countered the policy change at NVC with a policy change of their own. It pays to keep up to date.

It's a bit outdated, fees are different, but not by much. Basically, K-3 comes in, can't do anything without having a successful Adjustment of Status (AOS) . Can't work, can't get ssn, etc etc.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Ahhh ok, so read up on it. IR-1 / CR-1 are basically the whole kit and caboodle, as soon as the immigrant spouse enters the USA, they are a permanent resident, and get a green card, they can work, travel, etc.

But K-3 you still have to apply for adjustment of status after the immigrant spouse enters, they won't be a permanent resident or have a green card, and there are certain limitations. K-3 also expires in a couple of years, the guide says.

Hm, I think if we apply, we would rather just wait a little longer, and go for the IR-1 / CR-1.
