We are so happy! Our case at NVC is complete on May 20th, sign-in failed today for the first time...!!

Now just have to wait for a date in Montreal.

I cannot believe how smooth this is going for us... although I have to add; we have been so diligent in making sure we did everything which suggested to us by this group and it works.!!

So please people; before you send your stuff in, before you ask simple questions, my advise to you is to read and reread until you understand the process.

It can be overwhelming and tedious but it goes work if only you will take the time to make sure everything is in perfect order before you send your paperwork in.

Thank you Visa Journey, this site is most helpful and I appreciate all the time and effort by everyone....

Cheers!

Congrats! I hope you get your interview scheduled soon.

We got a case complete on May 12th and final review done the 13th.

We got our interview letter the 16th of May and our interview is going to happen on June 14th, so we actually heard back quite quick even less than a month before our interview. I hope the same happens to you!

I am also petitioning for a Mexican, and am wondering then how long did it take between the NVC receiving the petition to your getting the appt. date? The NVC finally just got mine today.

Also, how is the appointment made? Will he just get a letter in the mail with a set date? Or does he have to set one up online or something? I've been doing some reading but sometimes I've read so much it all gets confusing. I figure since you guys have to go through Juarez as well, I may as well ask you.

NVC sent us our invoice number after 10 days that our case was approved by USCIS, then we paid and took 2 days for the portal to show as paid. After that we filed our DS260 and IV package online and it was reviewed in 3 weeks, our AOS was sent later and took 18 business days to be reviewed, next we had a case complete and then final review was done and interview scheduled the next business day. I think a lot depends on when you get your case complete.

So if you send all info together and all info is fine (we didn't get an RFE at all) you could hear back in less than 20 business days for a case complete.

NVC contacts the consulate and they schedule you the appointment, you get your interview letter as an email.

By the way, your case is required electronically processing please don't mail anything. You do everything online, don't listen to your lawyer, we actually fired ours.

Right now you should gather all info regarding your civil documents and AOS. Once you pay you have access to your DS260 on your portal.

I hope this helps :)

I'm confused by some terms and things.

1) The invoice number from the NVC was sent 10 days after what point? I have a case number but noto invoice number. The USCIS approved the petition about 4 weeks ago.

2) What do you mean you paid? Paid who, and how much? I knew we have to pay to get an appointment but I thought that happened online. I'm assuming I can pay the bill as well, I hope.

3) What is the portal you speak of?

4)Did the Mexican citizen then ever get anything in the mail or no?

5) What's an AOS?

6) So the interview letter goes to the applicant or the petitioner?

7) So when you say case, you mean the actual application for the visa? Not including evidence like the Affidavit, etc.? I still have to mail down to him the affidavits, an extra copy of the petition, and recent evidence of the relationship.

8) What civil documents would I as a petitioner need? Or are you talking about the applicant needing to gather civil docs llike his police report?

Thankfully I don't have a lawyer. Couldn't afford one anyway and VJ + some friends of mine tend to collectively have all the info I have anyway.

Sorry to have so many questions, I really have been reading around the whole site, I was just confused.

Congrats! I hope you get your interview scheduled soon.

We got a case complete on May 12th and final review done the 13th.

We got our interview letter the 16th of May and our interview is going to happen on June 14th, so we actually heard back quite quick even less than a month before our interview. I hope the same happens to you!

Thanks so much, I understand that Montreal takes a bit longer due to the backlog so we are hoping for July at the earliest, but we're okay with this.

Congratulations and good luck in Montreal!

Thank you!!!!

congrats it's nice to hear that it all worked out for you guys :) i'm hoping our case works out soon too so my son can live with his daddy finally

You can do it too, just make sure you do everything they ask and read everything here you can from other couples who have gone before you... :-)

You shoujld have an email within a week. We got approved on May 11 and got our letter showing the interview date on the 13th of May. Interview is set for June 29th. Good Luck. yes I agree it can be done smoothly and painlessly. We had a few hickups along the way when they said they didn't get any of our paperwork after we had sent it in twice. But all in all it went smoothly. We first applied Sept 9, 2010 so 8 mos from start to end.

We are so happy! Our case at NVC is complete on May 20th, sign-in failed today for the first time...!!

Now just have to wait for a date in Montreal.

Sorry to have so many questions, I really have been reading around the whole site, I was just confused.

This is the address for the portal:

http://ceac.state.gov/iv/

All you need is your case number and invoice number. Our lawyer got our invoice 10 days after USCIS approved the case. NVC contacs you via mail. If you don't have it yet you should give a call to NVC and ask if an invoice number has been created for your case.

If your case starts with MEP then for sure it's a required electronic processing check this link I'm sure it'll help a lot.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_5162.html

Let me know if you have any questions, by the way is the benefiary in the States, are you just applying for an Adjusment of Status? I'm in Mexico though. I'm not sure if our process will be handled the same way.
