ok i happen to live right in garden grove. it started with just one shop (cafe lu and one girl wearing see through lingerie with no undergarment) but it caught on and soon there were 2 more that was doing it. the other 2 shops had 2 girls and sometimes the lingerie would only go to their hips, so it was like a strip club. i think that's when the city council called for an emergency meeting.

i never had the chance to go, my friends did go and said business was good and lots of 40+ guys in there. these girls would not sit down and talk, just poured tea and go.

In Houston there are lots and lots and lots of Cafes popping in biz lately. I guess lots of ladies figuring instead of hard working at McD's, or Home Depot, whatever, they might as well "take advantage" of their "assets". Lots of folks where I work often invite me to join them to pay visits to these "cafes" after work, especially on the weekends and/or Fridays evening.

I told them "Sure, who wouldn't wanna some fun? But if I see one of my daughters or my wife working in there dressing up like that, do you think I still enjoy my cup of java?".

Their response? "Do I care? As long as they're not my wife, daughter, not my prob!"

I guess it's the same feeling for prostitution as well.

So for those folks who think it's no harm, no foul, read the above story and reevaluate your moral meter.

You like to praise the Bill of Rights, but you think women don't have rights in regard to their body?

Your English has improved significantly, by the way. I still disagree with most of what you post, but your message is a lot clearer.

I'm not making fun of him; he's obviously been studying.

You're English isn't bad and my Vietnamese is worse than everyone's English combined.

Using your logic, if a lady showing up in your church (assuming you're a Pastor there) saying "Hey, it's my first amendment right and I prefer not to wear any clothing", would you agree?

Back to the issue a woman can choose to "display" her body if she wants to. Perfectly OK and acceptable. We're talking about "indecent activities" here in those coffee shops, ie. inappropriate touching, sometimes sexual activities.

Why don't those Vnese girls go work at Hooters if they really enjoy displaying their "assets"? Because they know they want to commit in illegal activities not permitted at Hooters.

PS> Mark, thank you for the compliment in regards to my English. At least I've tried to improve it. I know a few Vnese ladies being in the US for 5 to 12 months. Yet they refuse to improve their English so they can pass that USC Naturalization Test. They speak mostly Vnese in their nail salon shops and watch nothing but Chinese movies with Vnese subtitles. (or a few of those Cafe shops customers speak nothing but "So Nho" (cursing words)).

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!

You can't compare what goes on behind closed doors in one specific environment (i.e. where kids aren't allowed) to what happens in Church. That's like saying because it isn't appropriate to wear a thong & pasties to the grocery store it shouldn't be allowed in Strip Clubs either.

Back to the issue a woman can choose to "display" her body if she wants to. Perfectly OK and acceptable. We're talking about "indecent activities" here in those coffee shops, ie. inappropriate touching, sometimes sexual activities.

Again this brings the issue of what makes it indecent? If I touch my wife or girlfriend in the same ways and it's consentual then is it indecent? Is it indecent because money changes hands (directly or indirectly)?

Why don't those Vnese girls go work at Hooters if they really enjoy displaying their "assets"? Because they know they want to commit in illegal activities not permitted at Hooters.

Remove the concept of the indecent/illegal activities, make it wearing shorty shorts & skin tight t-shirt with no physical contact allowed VS some degree of nudity & physical contact of varying degrees allowed. Now ask the quest why would the second be preferred over the first, 2 possible answers: 1) The second pays more. 2) The girl doesn't have a hang-up over nudity & disconnected (NSA) sexual contact.

It all goes back to there being a big moral hang-up about nudity & paid sexual services.

as long as women choose to do it for a living , not being force into doing that then let them be. after all it a free country .

if people truly wanna stop stuff like strip clubs and prostitution then create decent paying jobs for those women , that is the best way to deal with it, not making it illegal and jail them. think out side of the box people .

Sure. If you happen to have a daughter, when she's bound for college, just tell her "College? Nargh. Too boring! Hooters, Strip clubs! more fun and chance to express yourself! Why stressing yourself out for 4 years and might still being unemployed Vs. lots and lots of dough now?"

And I'm sure your wife (the Mom) would be thrilled to high-5 with you on the decision as well.

After all, if noone is willing to make this type of decision, who would be the waitresses at those Cafe shops right?

Are you saying that every woman working in those cafes are prisoners/sex slaves?

If that's the case then legalize them, make then VN versions of US Strip Clubs, and regulate them. If there are no willing Waitresses/Hostesses then they won't be around for long.

I'm sure there are some places that operate like that but I'm just as sure there are enough women willingly working in them that this wouldn't be a problem.

exactly... its supply and demand economics... if there isnt money or intelligence enough to go to college, then there are other ways to support a family... The Sean Connery line in The Untouchables comes to mind.... "What are you prepared to do"? The article is related to an example that is Vietnamese specific because they have put thier own twist on an old idea... When people are really poor, they often compromise something to make ends meet... Go to VN and see what ideas people have when they are really poor when it comes to generating revenue..

IMO the reason its such an issue in OC is because its VK taking part in it and they are discriminating... from what I read this place isnt much different from what hooters does...

My best friends wife is a stripper in the states. He clearly doesn't mind and his own words is your money is going to pay my bills. The reason I know he doesn't mind is when I was with him he took me to a strip club and told me there was a really hot dancer he knew I would want to watch, so I went, low and behold it was his girlfriend (now wife) I was totally shocked and couldn't watch, the entire time he is laughing his butt off. Well after her show she came around and didn't sit on his lap she sat on mine and was talking with both of us, needless to say my night was very awkward and they had the time of their lives seeing how freaked out I was. The main point is even if it is your wife, do you trust her, it is is really prostitution going on then your wife doesn't have to work there, or your daughter, I would never want my daughter to work in that situation, but if she was 18 then it would be her choice not mine. I do agree that prostitution should be legal and then it would help stop the slave trade, and help stop on crimes as well. After all prostitution is the worlds oldest constant profession.

Besides Americans have a fetish, and that is served by slender Asian women dressed very skimpily, this is life the police and politicians who have the fat white wives are just mad they don't have the hot Asian wife like most of us do

if i have a daughter i will never tell her that. being a stripper or a hooker is a tough job, it not easy money,do not ask me how i know that. people do that not because they like it , they do that because they have no other way to made money. when i have kids i will raise them well so they will be smart enough to made money in which ever ways they choose.
