I have just recieved my K1, me and my fiancee did it without the use of a lawyer it is alot of paperwork required but it is pretty easy to do and understand, the worst part of it all is the waiting, but even if she doesn't meet the the 18k limit it is fine you can use a co sponsor as long as you can find one, i know others have already said this, but if you need any help with it on the uk side of things feel free to message me,

Nearly there, and for those who are just starting the k1 it is a long wait but once it is over the time feels well spent

benefit would be that an attorney would save you a quite a bit of time, because you do have to spend quite a bit of time researching.

I have to disagree here. An attorney knows NOTHING about you, your fiancee, your finances, etc. He has to get all this information from you so where is the time saving? There is an abundance of very helpful advice on almost every topic here as well as all the forms you will need and examples on how to fill them out. But the very best thing is that if you have a problem you just go on here and post your question, at any hour of day or night. Very quickly you will have all the advice and more that you need. Only the most expensive of law firms could come close to this level of service!

Hello and welcome to VJ,

Most of us here have filed our petitions on our own, thereby saving lots of money on attorney fees. Make sure to read the GUIDES (at the top of your screen) so you can understand the process. If your situation is uncomplicated (no issues with the police or previous overstays, etc.) the packet completion is pretty easy to do. Also, if you have questions as you go along in the process, you can post your question(s) and some helpful member will always be ready to offer advice. :)

Best wishes! (F)

It looks like tomorrow is your legal wedding, congratulations!! So jealous!

If your case is straightforward, as in no complications involved, then no. No lawyer is needed.

Did you really get your NAO2 a month from your NOA1?

Yes, we really got the NOA2 in 23 days. It was at a time when Vermont was just really fast, and flying with the approvals. We were just really lucky to have sent ours in at that time.
