Translation of Birth Certificate Note

So I have to get my birth certificate translated. I'm looking at this certification note that the translator needs to sign:

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Date Typed Name

Address

How important is it that the translator's name be typed? Can I just leave that field as a line for the translator to fill their name in on? The reason I'm asking is because I don't know the name of my translator. The people I'm getting to translate my birth certificate will assign me some random agent so not even they'll know until I show up at the place.

Oh yeah, I also saw some people just get their translator to write up a note about how the document was translated accurately and so on. So I just want some experiences with this if anyone knows how picky they are about the translation of documents and so forth.

Hi! Well, as far as I know and according to what I've done before, on the website of the US Embassy in your country there is a list of certified translators that they accept and you need to pick one of those from the list and have them translating your document, they are gonna certify everything and together is gonna be an statement like the one you want. Thanks for the response, Linha87! Unfortunately, I can't rely on the embassy's list of translators because even though I'm a Canadian citizen I have a Vietnamese birth certificate. So what has everyone done for the certification by translator letter if you don't know the translator's name who's going to be working on your document? Am I just freaking out over a really minor thing?

You're freaking out over a minor thing. Let the translator fill out the statement and sign it. If they do this for a living then they already have a boilerplate statement they can give you.

Hi Piefre! Well that is an issue once the documents need to be either in english or in the language of the country the interview is gonna take place at. So, if I was you I would e-mail the U.S. Embassy in Canada where your interview is gonna happen explaining to them that you're going through the k-1 process and that your birth certificate is Vietnamese and you need a certified translator accepted by them to translate the document to you. Once you e-mail them they are gonna give you all the options regarding to this. They take only a couple days to reply, so it is pretty fast. Don't worry, everything is gonna work out! Good luck!

i got a note certifying that the translation was correct and the translator i have used has done alot of translation for USCIS, she also provided me with a signed copy of her credentials so they knew she was a certified translator
