and I called! my case was transferred to CSC yesterday!.... and i tried checking it online after i called and it came out.... "On June 23, 2011, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER ..." Yay!

though my EAD is still not found.I spoke to a customer representative and they couldn't get any info either so they suggested that i would email uscis webmaster after a week. They were very nice and helpful customer representatives, too!

Let's keep the faith!

Hi, smurfs!

Any idea why cases are moved to CSC? I gathered from the posts here in VJ that most military spouses' papers are moved there, almost all of them no interviews needed. Are you a military wife too?

Congrats, btw...praying for the best for us all.

I am from the Philippines too,in Indiana now. This is my timeline:

10/2009 - met online

11/2010 - came here on B1/B2 visa

12/2010 - first meeting in person in Chicago, IL

03/2011 - moved in with him in IN

4/25/11 - got married in Mitchell, IN

5/02/11 - sent AOS packet (I-130/I-485/I-765) to Chicago Lockbox

5/04/11 - AOS packet received by Chicago Lockbox

5/23/11 - Received NOA for RFE (I-693)

5/27/11 - Sent RFE to DHS Lee's Summit, MO

6/02/11 - DHS Lee's Summit received REF reply

6/06/11 - Biometrics done at Louisveille, KY as per NOA schedule

Grrr... me too. got a notice for an interview on July 26, which is more than a month away. I need my EAD first, ASAP. :-(

BTW, where is the National Benefits Center? Does it mean that we have to go there?

Hey Kezia!

Looks like we're on the same boat here. My time line is:

10/2009 - met online

6/06/11 - Biometrics done at Louisveille, KY as per NOA schedule

6/24/11 - Received NOA for July 25 interview in Indianapolis

The NBC is in Lee's Summit, MO but your NOA for the interview should be able to tell you the exact USCIS Office nearest you..Las Vegas eh?

Good luck...let us know your experience.

By the way, to all members, in my NOA for my July 25th interview in Indianapolis, one of the docs listed was "any Government-issued photo ID"..which I don't have yet due to no EAD yet so no SSN so no state ID and DL and no car insurance inclusion (hahah!).. so I only have my valid Philippine passport to boot. I'd think USCIS would not expect me to have anything else? Any thoughts?

Thanks and good day!

Wow! Your interview came pretty quick... Congratulations! I sure think it's okay to show only your passport. However, bring with you a copy of your marriage certificate for proof of name change. I wonder why other states have different policies when it comes to getting SSN and Drivers License. Thank God I got both my SSN and DL without a sweat. I'm sure your EAD is around the corner... And not so long from now you'll get everything else... God Bless! (F)

I already got my letter and the interview is in the Las Vegas local office.

I think your US Visa should qualify for the ID, so just bring the marriage certificate and other Philippine IDs for support.

Good luck!

You don't have to wait for your EAD to get a government ID. All I did was add my husband to our lease as soon as he moved here on the K-1 (proof of residency) and he got his SSN 2 weeks later at the social security office.

You also do not need to be a military spouse to be transferred to the CSC. Our case is being processed there and I am not a member of the military.

Yeah, you kinda do. Well, you can get a DL or state ID but they will expire when your I-94 does, so it doesn't really make no sense getting it before EAD. You can't get an ID with an expired I-94. SSN is not enough, you have to prove legal presence.

Hi there! I am not a military wife.... When I was preparing for my AOS packet,i have been asking help from a friend who just had filed for AOS and her case was transferred to CSC and no interview! I was all ready with my papers when she told me to include a few supporting documents like pictures, bank joint account and other stuff and so i did. I'm thinking this helped from being transferred. Just my guess though....

Good luck to all of us.

Walk-in Biometrics attempt today (USCIS Seattle) - failed! The lady at the reception said - "Unless it shows in your biometrics letter that you're allowed walk-in, then that's the only time you can walk-in. In your case, you have to stick with the date and time scheduled in the letter." Travelled an hour to get there and another hour back. We headed to the mall and did some shopping, so the trip wasn't at all wasted, ha ha... B-)

I know about getting SSN. Most VJ members have not been able to get DL before EAD or GC and had to prove legal presence before DMV would issue them DL/ID. In my state (and most other states) you need at least EAD and even then DL will expire when EAD does (1 year). Looks like IL and WA are exceptions then.

Thanks and good day!

prep.mac :)

Hi, note that "any Government-issued photo ID" refers to "ANY" government. Your passport from your home country is a government-issued ID. They are not asking for a US Government issued ID. So you do not need to worry. Just go with your passport. I went for my biometrics with my passport, even though I have a State ID which I didn't produce.

Try again! My husband did a walk-in in Chicago (we were going on our honeymoon during his scheduled appointment) and the guy told him he wasn't allowed to do that and turned him away. Tom (my husband) then sent in the paperwork to reschedule the appointment (which goes directly to the biometrics facility, not the processing center) by mailing it overnight. He then waited until the afternoon the day they received his notice (he tracked the letter) and tried again. This time it was far less busy (I hear if the center is busy they tend to decline walk-in requests) and saw that he had gone through the work to reschedule. He then showed them our airline ticket receipts and asked again, this time they processed him no problem. It's really all in the luck of the draw.

Yeah, that's odd. I wonder if CA is just really strict about IDs. You can definitely get one in IL without issue.
