I came from Japan with K1 visa, and got married on 29th Jan.

My status is as follows.

Most of my friends didn't need to have interview, but i received the interview appointment letter.

is it randamly chosen? My process is going well but my interview date is bit far away.

hopefuly i will receive EAD document soon then i can start working:)

please share your sitnation with me and i am willing to exchange information and experiences too.

March 4 2011; Sent AOS & EAD Application

March 10 2011; Text message from USCIS that they have received my application

March 11 2011; NOA of AOS & EAD received

March 18 2011; ASC Biometrics appointment letter arrived

April 1 2011: Biometrics finisned

April 27 2011;EAD documents are ordered (from the USCIS web site status)

May 2 2011; Interview appointment letter received

June 6 2011 : Interview

Congrats Kuripie you seem to have gone right on schedule.. As a matter of fact its about a 50/50 chance on whether you get an interview or not, but I wouldn't worry so much about the interview, just bring the necessary documents and you should be fine. On the bright side, at least you know you will have your GC in June :) Goodluck on your interview and congrats on your awesome AOS visajourney :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

  • 03-10-11 Day 00 = AOS FedEx overnight
  • 03-11-11 Day 01 = AOS at Chicago Lockbox FedEx Confirmation
  • 04-11-11 Day 32 = AOS Text/eMail Confirmation
  • 04-14-11 Day 35 = NOA (EAD & AOS)
  • 04-15-11 Day 36 = Bio-Metrics NOA
  • 05-10-11 Day 61 = Bio-Metrics Appointment
  • 05-17-11 Day 68 = Submitted Request to Correct Name on 485 & 765
  • 05-23-11 Day 74 = Status online shows I-765 (EAD) Approved
  • 06-02-11 Day 84 = EAD arrived in the mail
  • 06-02-11 Day 84 = Went to SSA office (name wrong on Master Immigration List)
  • 06-12-11 Day 95 = InfoPass to correct name
  • 06-12-11 Day 95 = SSA office again Pending name update
  • 06-??-11 Day ?? = Received Social Security Card
  • 08-03-11 Day 146 = AOS Interview
