Hey guys.

So my co-sponsor is going to be my fiacees dad, He has just stated recieving his pension, which is way above the poverty guidelines, as he has just retired from 30 years as a school teacher. My question is, what kind of supporting eveidence will he need to provide to support his financial income (pension) he has only been getting his pension for 1 month so only has 1 pay reciept from them to date. I know people with jobs provide tax returns for the past 3 years and pay slips and so on, but obviously this is different. I just want to make sure i get this all done right. I'm sure you all understand the importance of the affidavit of support. Any help and advice, or anybodys experience would be greatl appreciated

He probably has a paper of some sort stating what his pension is. Use that.

Agree. There will be some kind of paperwork from the teacher retirement system informing him of his benefits. Or he can probably request a statement of benefits. That is used like an employer letter.

2010 tax return is enough and not 3 years. London has been very lenient lately and only taken employer letters from some people. They don't actually require a tax return at all with other proofs, unlike when you submit an I-864 with AOS. I would take 2010 tax and the pension starement. Don't forget to have proof that Dad is a US citizen or resident.

Birth certificate showing born in the USA. I'm not positive if London is strict on this, but you will need it for AOS and the I-864 for sure.

Then a photocopy of a certified copy of a birth certificate or photocopy of Naturalization Certificate.
