Need to wait after the visa interview?

Hi. My wife's immigration visa interview (CR1) is scheduled for June 21st at the US consulate in Mumbai, India, after which she can travel to USA. My question is, I should buy her ticket for what date? Obviously I can buy for June 22nd, but that would be risky considering that they may not stamp her passport immediately. Should I buy for July 1st ? Is that enough of a buffer?

Never buy the ticket until you have the visa in hand.

I agree... you never know what happens at the interview. You have to always think about the other possibility of the situation as well...

In general, yes, but if I buy the ticket with only a few days notice, then the price difference will be greater than the cost I will pay for cancellation in case something goes wrong . So it's worth buying now, and cancelling later
