police records from years in the U.S.?

Hi everyone,

My fiance (the K1 beneficiary) lived for several years in the U.S. (in 3 different towns). We are gathering all the documents for the interview and we have everything at this point...EXCEPT police records from his years in the U.S.

Our immigration lawyer has assured us that we DON'T need this, because they do their own background check at the consulate, and that's why they ask everywhere you have lived since age 16 on the DS-230 form. However, it's making me nervous because he said he looked it up on the travel.state.gov website, but I can't find it anywhere. And why wouldn't they say something like that in the instructions?

Does anyone have EXPERIENCE with this? If the foreign fiance lived in the U.S., did you need a police record from the U.S.? Is it possible it depends on the country they are from? (Please, no guesses or speculations!)

08/29/11 Biometrics

10/17/11 Greencard interview. Approved.

:yes: Yes, this is true, your fiance doesnt need to obtain police clearance from US. They do their background check themselves. I stayed in USA on J1 visa and researched this subject, so dont you worry about ths. Gluck ! :)

03/24/11 - NOA2!!! email/text on 03/29 (after 190 days)

04/05/11 - MOS # assigned

04/12/11 - NVC left

04/15/11 - Consulate received

06/02/11 - Medical

06/03/11 - Interview (after 261 days) Approved !

06/09/11 - Visa in hand

06/10/11 - POE @ JFK

08/19/11 - Married <3 <3 <3

09/01/11 - AOS sent

09/06/11 - NOA1 for AOS packet

10/03/11 - Biometrics
