I was in a similar situation. I filed for a I-129F back in 1998, and it was approved. In answering the question on my new petition, all I provided was her full name, date of filing, #A number and result in the question box. I did not elaborate on a separate paper what her current status is or provide a copy of the previous NOA-2. USCIS did not seem to be troubled by this. I received my NOA-2 approval last Monday.

Which is called the NOA2 by the majority of the users on this website. I know you've complained about it in threads in the past, however, even the guides here on VJ consider the approval notice the NOA2.

Yup sort of makes sense. The form is called Notice Of Action and the second such form that most people recieve, unless we were into RFEs, is the approval notice.
