Hi all,

SO now that we received our approval, my fiance will be going to his GP and seeing if he needs to get any of the jabs/shots for the visa (so its free). He claims that the doctor wont give him any, because he has already had measles, mumps, and chicken pox. He also said that he has received the tetanus etc. I told him that i think he will since they have to be within 10 years?

I am so confused about the list of vaccines he is supposed to get for this medical I tell ya! I did tell him to get his immunization record...but it sounds like it wont have anything on it.

Maybe it doesnt work the same as it does in the USA as it does in England. :bonk:

His immunisation records should have every jab he's had since birth. I received mine yesterday and I've got it going back to 1988.. I'm not 100% sure on the tetanus situation, but I'm getting my own one re-done as I've not had a booster done since 1992.

Hmm thats weird.. My doctor gave me all the jabs again last year when i told him I was moving to america. Maybe you should try and change doctors and get a second opinion.

Tetanus is every 10 years.

Chicken pox they don't vaccinate if you have already had it. For this they would mark VH on the immigration medical. VH means you have history of having it.

MMR only needs to be boosterd if you show a low immunity when you have a titer test done by the doctor.

I agree try going to a different doctors.when i told my doctor what jabs i needed and that i was going to the US to live he refused to give me any shots (even tho i was overdue for a tetanus and MMR jab). dont worry to much if you think ur missing some because as far as im aware the knightsbridge doctors can administer most of them (for a price), but having some kind of vac's record is important or you will have to have them all again when you get here!! but bare in mind you dont have to have any to come over to the US, but you DO have to have them all by the time you apply for residency. turned out none of that mattered for me as the USCIS lost all my medical record when they transfered my AOS to cali and i had to go and see a civil surgeon.

with the MMR you have to have had three doeses as an adult. i was told by the doctor at Knightsbridge. ive just had to have one more (making three) for my AOS, im still wearing the badaid to prove it :)

The doctor who did my k1 medical here in Sydney said they could do blood tests for $15 per test for any vaccinations I wasn't sure if I needed or not. In my case however, I knew I hadn't had any vaccinations as a child, so I just got my doctor to do all of them for me. Maybe a second oppinion would be a good idea.

The vaccinations nurse at Knightsbridge Doctors told me that she'd need to see proof of first MMR dose from my GP/Nurse. I went to my GP/Nurse and she couldn't find my original MMR records, so she gave me a new MMR and we sent that off to Knightsbridge (along with a Tdap booster). I haven't heard back from KB yet which is good - but I will chase it up.

Iv only ever had one dose, DR in Canada said its not needed unless you show low immunity.

DR in US said the same thing to me when I went here just to make sure.
