Send orignal W2s and 1040s for interview?

This might be a less than reasonable question, but when the embassy states that all documents must be originals, does that include W2s and 1040s, or does it only refer to the petitioners materials?

I apologize, I meant to say does it only refer to the beneficiary's documents.

I couldn't send an original for the W-2 since I only recieved PDF file from my company. I don't think it matters for this. As for the 1040s, it is best to get a tax transcripts and send those. You can request them from the IRS online. I received mine for 2008 and 2009 in less than a week. For 2010 taxes, I had just filed them, so I just included a copy of the 1040 from my PDF files, and copies of the supporting documents.

Tax transcripts or copies of the signed 1040s are fine. For the interview I think the beneficiary should have originals of the DS forms, receipts, boarding passes and other evidence. Good luck!

P.S. Yes I think at the interview stage its just about the documents that the beneficiary would present at the interview.

I don't think you'd ever want to part with your original W2s/1040s..
